It can express surprise, annoyance, disappointment, impatience or shock.<\/p>\n<p>I wasn&#8217;t able to figure out exactly where this phrase came from, but supposedly it emerged in the 1970s as a hippie expression.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s look at some examples.<\/p>\n<p><em>Putz grila! Esqueci minhas chaves.<\/em> Oh no! I forgot my keys.<\/p>\n<p><em>O voo foi cancelado? Putz grila!<\/em> The flight was canceled? Darn it!<\/p>\n<p><em>M\u00e3e, voc\u00ea est\u00e1 vindo agora? N<\/em><em>\u00e3<\/em><em>o estou pronto ainda. Putz grila!<\/em> Mom, you&#8217;re coming over now? I&#8217;m not ready yet.
