{"id":2023,"date":"2011-02-17T08:00:20","date_gmt":"2011-02-17T08:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/portuguese\/?p=2023"},"modified":"2014-07-24T17:21:15","modified_gmt":"2014-07-24T17:21:15","slug":"carnaval-2011-countdown-sao-paulo-samba-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/portuguese\/carnaval-2011-countdown-sao-paulo-samba-schools\/","title":{"rendered":"Carnaval 2011 Countdown: S\u00e3o Paulo Samba Schools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since I live in S\u00e3o Paulo, I know more about the S\u00e3o Paulo samba schools than the Rio schools. \u00a0Also, \u00a0since S\u00e3o Paulo &amp; Rio de Janeiro have similiar <em>Carnaval <\/em>experiences, I&#8217;m going to use this post to talk about the samba school <em>desfiles<\/em> and another post to talk about Rio&#8217;s street <em>blocos<\/em>, which you&#8217;ll also find in S\u00e3o Paulo, but usually before <em>Carnaval<\/em> here and during in Rio!<\/p>\n<p>This year, I&#8217;ve been going to a lot of samba school rehearsals, or <em>ensaios de escola de samba. <\/em>When I talk about &#8220;samba schools,&#8221; I don&#8217;t mean I&#8217;m there to learn to samba.
