It&#8217;s a winter break where here in the south east of Brazil we use to escape to the sunny north east or Brazilians in general flee to Chile to ski&#8230; or at least those who can afford it!<\/p>\n<p>Winter in Brazil can actually be quite chilly in some states and there are a number of fun things that go on and food people normally prepare that&#8217;s different from the warmer months. So let&#8217;s work on some of our winter vocabulary!<\/p>\n<p><em>inverno <\/em>&#8211; winter<\/p>\n<p><em>Este inverno tem sido muito frio. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>This winter has been very cold.<\/p>\n<p><em>esquiar &#8211; <\/em>to ski<\/p>\n<p><em>M\u00eas que vem vou ao Chile esquiar! <\/em><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m going to Chile next month to ski!<\/p>\n<p><em>casaco &#8211; <\/em>coat<\/p>\n<p><em>Preciso comprar um casaco mais quente porque a minha jaqueta n\u00e3o basta. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>I need to buy a warmer coat because my jacket hasn&#8217;t been enough.<\/p>\n<p><em>lareira &#8211; <\/em>fireplace<\/p>\n<p><em>Vamos acendar a lareira hoje a noite? <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Want to light a fire in the fireplace tonight?<\/p>\n<p><em>coberta &#8211; <\/em>blanket<\/p>\n<p><em>Preciso de mais uma coberta nesse frio! <\/em><\/p>\n<p>I need one more blanket in this cold (weather)!<\/p>\n<p><em>cachecol &#8211; <\/em>scarf<\/p>\n<p><em>Comprei um cachecol colorido, muito lindo! <\/em><\/p>\n<p>I bought a gorgeous colorful scarf!<\/p>\n<p><em>chocolate quente &#8211; <\/em>hot chocolate<\/p>\n<p><em>Voc\u00ea esquenta o leite para fazermos chocolate quente? <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Will you warm some milk so we can make hot chocolate?<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>Can you guys think of other &#8220;winter in Brazil&#8221; vocabulary?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>July is a month where most schools are on break, making most of us whose families have children or college aged folk take some time off from work as well.
