{"id":2550,"date":"2011-08-01T06:45:06","date_gmt":"2011-08-01T06:45:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/portuguese\/?p=2550"},"modified":"2011-07-31T22:10:37","modified_gmt":"2011-07-31T22:10:37","slug":"brands-in-portuguese","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/portuguese\/brands-in-portuguese\/","title":{"rendered":"Difficult Words to Pronounce in Portuguese"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The other day, I was talking to a couple of American friends who live in Brazil about how funny it is when Brazilians pronounce English words\u00a0<em>abrasileiradamente. <\/em>Things like, <em>Nothi-buqui <\/em>(notebook &#8211; usually used for laptops), <em>Amburgu\u00e9 \u00a0<\/em>(Hamburger), \u00a0&amp; <em>Leenqu\u00e9djeen <\/em>(LinkedIn)&#8230; and much more. At work, I&#8217;m hounded all the time for saying words in English&#8230; in English.<\/p>\n<p>But then I got to thinking&#8230; what about the other way around? Non-Portuguese speakers will all say things like, <em>Havaeenas <\/em>(Havaianas), <em>Kiepee-reenias <\/em>(Caipirinhas), and <em>Coe-are-ow\u00a0<\/em>(Cora\u00e7\u00e3o).<\/p>\n<p>Every language has words that are especially hard for those of certain other countries to pronounce. One word that&#8217;s almost impossible for a Brazilian to say in English is &#8220;world&#8221;, because the &#8220;rl,&#8221; isn&#8217;t found in Portuguese. The same goes for English speakers who try to say anything in Portuguese that has an &#8220;\u00e3o,&#8221; and always comes out sounding like, &#8220;ow.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>What are some words you find difficult to pronounce in Portuguese?
