Today’s my birthday!! \\o\/\u00a0I love birthdays because they’re a great excuse to get all my friends together in one place and be happy (although lately I’ve been trying to not think of the getting older thing…), don’t you think?<\/p>\n
We’ve gone over how to say happy birthday in Portuguese<\/a> and how to sing happy birthday in Portuguese<\/a> here on the blog, but we haven’t gone over other birthday and celebration vocabulary!!<\/p>\n So here are a few key words when it comes to anivers\u00e1rios<\/em>!<\/p>\n Feliz Anivers\u00e1rio – <\/em>Happy Birthday. Another word that is used that could also be used for “congratulations”, is, parab\u00e9ns!<\/em><\/p>\n Festa – <\/em>Party or celebration<\/p>\n Inferno Astral – <\/em>Okay, so a little superstition, here!! The month before your birthday, is called your “astro hell” or what have you, because everything supposedly goes wrong. So it makes it better when your birthday comes along!<\/p>\n Clube de Festa – <\/em>Party space\/club\/hall<\/p>\n Churrasco – <\/em>Cookout (ok, so I usually celebrate my birthday with cookouts and thought this would be important!)<\/p>\n Soprar Velas – <\/em>To blow out candles<\/p>\n Bolo – <\/em>Cake!<\/p>\n Docinhos – <\/em>Sweets usually served at kids’ birthday parties<\/p>\n Bal\u00e3o (ou Bixiga) – <\/em>Balloons!<\/p>\n Receber Amigos – <\/em>To have friends over\/Invite friends somewhere<\/p>\n And to finish our birthday post, a song from my youth… Xuxa’s Birthday Song!!
