Yesterday at lunch, we were talking about in-laws, and the question of whether there was a word for a brother\/sister-in-law’s spouse existed. And in Portuguese, there is a word! So I figured I’d do a quick post on in-laws and “step” type vocabulary in Portuguese! Next time you go to visit them, you can impress them with your fancy Portuguese names for them!<\/p>\n

Mother-in-law – Sogra<\/em><\/p>\n

Father-in-law – Sogro<\/em><\/p>\n

Brother-in-law – Cunhado<\/em><\/p>\n

Sister-in-law – Cunhada<\/em><\/p>\n

Brother\/Sister-in-law’s Wife – Concunhada<\/em><\/p>\n

Sister\/Brother-in-law’s Husband – Concunhado<\/em><\/p>\n

Son-in-law – Genro<\/em><\/p>\n

Daughter-in-law – Nora<\/em><\/p>\n

Stepmother – Madrasta<\/em><\/p>\n

Stepfather – Padastro<\/em><\/p>\n

Stepdaughter – Enteada<\/em><\/p>\n

Stepson – Enteado<\/em><\/p>\n
