Ir embora<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>Ir embora<\/em> means to go away or to leave. The word <em>embora<\/em> comes from the expression <em>em boa hora<\/em> (at a good time).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Estou indo embora. Quer uma carona?<em> [I&#8217;m leaving. Do you want a ride?]<\/em><br \/>\nPor que ela foi embora t\u00e3o cedo? <em>[Why did she leave so early?]<\/em><br \/>\nVai embora! <em>[Go away!]<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>2. It&#8217;s also used when you do something just for the heck of it, like when you don&#8217;t like your job, but you can&#8217;t quit either.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">&#8220;E a\u00ed? Como est\u00e3o as coisas?&#8221; <em>[What&#8217;s up? How are things?]<\/em><br \/>\n&#8220;Ah, vou levando. E voc\u00ea?&#8221; <em>[OK. Ir direto ao assunto<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">We use this expression when we stop beating around the bush, go straight to the point, cut to the chase.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Bom, como estou com pressa vou direto ao assunto. <em>[Well, as I&#8217;m in a hurry I&#8217;ll go straight to the point.]<\/em><br \/>\nP\u00e1ra de enrolar e vai direto ao assunto. N\u00e3o temos tempo a perder. <em>[Stop beating around the bush and cut to the chase. We don&#8217;t have time to lose.]<\/em><br \/>\nEla chegou \u00e0 reuni\u00e3o e foi direto ao assunto. <em>[She got to the meeting and went straight to the topic.]<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>5.
