In today’s post I’m going to present some expressions that are used when you “understand” things in Portuguese. Don’t know what I mean? Check them out!<\/p>\n

1. Mostrando compreens\u00e3o – Saying “I understand”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Entendi. – I see.
\nEntendo o que est\u00e1 dizendo. – I see what you mean.
\nEntendo perfeitamente. – I understand you completely.
\nT\u00e1. Agora entendi. – Now I get it.
\nAh, entendi. – Oh, I got it.<\/p>\n

2. Falta de compreens\u00e3o – Saying “I don’t understand”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Desculpe, n\u00e3o entendi. – I’m sorry, I don’t understand.
\nN\u00e3o sei se entendi. – I’m not sure if I understand.
\nComo assim? – What do you mean?
\nAinda n\u00e3o entendi direito. – I still don’t quite understand what you mean exactly.
\nAh, desculpe. Eu entendi tudo errado. – Oh, sorry. I misunderstood completely.
\nAh, t\u00e1! Eu tinha entendido… – Oh! I thought you said…
\nDesculpa. Voc\u00ea me confundiu. – I’m sorry. You lost me.
\nDesculpa. Estou devagar hoje. – I’m sorry. I’m slow today.
\nDesculpa. Sou meio devagar. – I’m sorry. I’m a little slow.<\/p>\n

3. Confirmando se entendeu – Checking your understanding<\/strong><\/p>\n

T\u00e1, ent\u00e3o… – OK, so…
\nOu seja… – In other words…
\nVoc\u00ea quer dizer que…? – Do you mean…?
\nDeixe-me ver se eu entendi… – Let me see if I understand…
\n\u00c9 isso? – Is that right?<\/p>\n

4. Confirmando se o ouvinte entendeu – Checking the other person’s understanding<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sabe? \/ Entende? – You know?
\nVoc\u00ea est\u00e1 me entendendo? – Do you see what I mean?
\nVoc\u00ea me entendeu? \/ Voc\u00ea me entende? – You know what I mean?
\nVoc\u00ea entendeu o que eu quis dizer? – Do you see what I’m saying?
\nAcho que n\u00e3o estou sendo muito claro. – I think maybe I’m not being very clear.<\/p>\n
