Portuguese has many unique phrases and here are some phrases for dating:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Namorar\u00a0<\/strong>This is &#8220;to date.&#8221; <em>Namorado\/a<\/em> is boyfriend\/girlfriend. This is pretty clear in Portuguese. <em>Noivo\/a<\/em> would be fianc\u00e9\/fianc\u00e9e. <em>Marido\/esposa<\/em> is husband\/wife.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Apaixonar\u00a0<\/strong>This is the step between <em>gostar<\/em> (to like) and <em>amar<\/em> (to love). It basically is the act of falling in love with someone and the stage in a relationship where you really adore your significant other. You say <em>estou apaixonado\/a<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amar\u00a0<\/strong>This verb is &#8220;to love&#8221; and is stronger than <em>gostar<\/em> or <em>apaixonar<\/em>. You say <em>eu te amo<\/em> or <em>eu amo voc\u00ea<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beijar\u00a0<\/strong>This is &#8220;to kiss.&#8221; <em>Beijo<\/em> is a kiss. Many Brazilians use beijo when they end a conversation or a message. For example: <em>Muito obrigada pela ajuda. Vou te ver amanh\u00e3. Beijos.\u00a0<\/em>(Thanks for the help. I&#8217;ll see you tomorrow. Kisses.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abra\u00e7ar\u00a0<\/strong>This is the act of hugging. A hug is <em>um abra\u00e7o<\/em>. Like <em>beijos<\/em>, Brazilians often use this to end a conversation and will add <em>abra\u00e7os<\/em> to it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lindo\/a\u00a0<\/strong>Calling someone <em>lindo<\/em> or <em>linda<\/em> is a common compliment. It means handsome or beautiful.<\/p>\n<p>Also, yesterday June 12th, was <em>Dia dos Namorados<\/em> in Brazil.
