[M\u00fasica Brasileira] – Belchior<\/p>\n

Last week we said <\/span>adeus<\/span><\/i> (goodbye) to <\/span>Ant\u00f4nio Carlos Gomes Belchior Fontenelle Fernandes, <\/span>conhecido<\/span><\/i> (known) simply as <\/span>Belchior<\/b>, a Brazilian music icon <\/span>from the state Cear\u00e1, in the northeastern Brazil. One of our country\u2019s most beloved artists, the 70-year old <\/span>Belchior <\/b>passed away on April 30th of natural causes due to an aortic rupture. With the news of his death, thousands of fans and the media mourned the <\/span>cantor e compositor<\/span><\/i> (singer and composer) whose revolutionary albums, like the emblematic<\/span> Alucina\u00e7\u00e3o<\/span><\/i> (1976) or <\/span>Cora\u00e7\u00e3o Selvagem<\/span><\/i> (1977)<\/span> were of major importance to Brazilian music.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Brazilian singer Belchior<\/p><\/div>\n

Belchior<\/b> rose to national sucess in the \u201870s, but his career was interrupted when he stopped performing, releasing new <\/span>m\u00fasicas<\/span><\/i> (songs) and had been away from the <\/span>palcos<\/span><\/i> (stages) and spotlights <\/span>por anos<\/span><\/i> (for years). The musician was even declared missing by his family, and some believe that he was deeply indebted and having financial difficulties. Others <\/span>acham<\/span><\/i> (think) that the artist, who was later discovered in a <\/span>cidade pequena<\/span><\/i> (small town) in Uruguai and was recently living in the house of fans, friends and charity institutions, was simply seeking peace and solitude to enjoy a lifestyle away from fame. <\/span><\/p>\n

Nevertheless, <\/span>Belchior<\/b>\u2019s many unforgettable songs and style will leave many fans longing for more. <\/span><\/p>\n
