Therefore, literature has a significant role in this sense, because it <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ajuda<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (helps) in the process of acquiring vocabulary and it develops <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">habilidades de leitura<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (reading skills). The dead tells the tale of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">a noite<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (the evening) of professor Gabriel Conroy at a <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">festa de Natal<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (Christmas party) at his aunts\u2019 house. Upon his return, the protagonist discovers a secret on his wife\u2019s past. The story culminates at Conroy\u2019s reaction to this <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">descoberta<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (discovery).
