Passar<\/b> is a very common, versatile word in the Portuguese language. There are many different ways to use it, so today\u2019s post is dedicated to showing you how to employ and understand how the verb works. Vamos passar para os exemplos! Let\u2019s get to examples!<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Passar<\/b> in the sense of spending, remaining:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      \n
    • Meu filho se mudou para a Inglaterra e <\/span>passou<\/span><\/i> tr\u00eas anos l\u00e1 – My son moved to England and <\/span>spent<\/span><\/i> three years there<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Passei<\/span><\/i> o dia inteiro estudando – I <\/span>spent<\/span><\/i> the whole day studying<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      1. Passar<\/b> in the sense of being over, ending<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                  1. Passar<\/b> in the sense of walking past a place, going somewhere briefly<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                      We also use the expression <\/span>dar uma passada<\/b> with the same meaning: <\/span><\/p>\n

                                          • Gosto de<\/span> passar<\/span><\/i> manteiga no p\u00e3o antes de comer – I like to <\/span>spread<\/span><\/i> some butter on bread before eating<\/span><\/li>\n
                                          • \u00c9 preciso<\/span> passar<\/span><\/i> uma camada de tinta na parede – We have to<\/span> add <\/span><\/i>a layer of paint to the wall<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
