De repente, da noite pro dia, s\u00f3 se falava em 2018. &#8220;E 2018, hein? O que \u00e9 que vai rolar?&#8221; A coisa, claro, foi piorando ao longo de 2017. &#8220;E 2018, hein? Voc\u00eas t\u00e3o pensando no que eu to pensando?&#8221; Hoje, j\u00e1 n\u00e3o se fala sobre o tempo quando falta assunto. No primeiro sil\u00eancio constrangedor, algu\u00e9m vai perguntar. &#8220;Mas e 2018, hein? Qual o chute?&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Todo o mundo tem uma teoria. Alguns apostam que Lula* ganha, outros que ele vai ser preso, e tem os que acham que ele vai ganhar e depois ser preso, ou ser preso e ganhar de dentro da pris\u00e3o. Tem os apocal\u00edpticos: se ele ganha o pa\u00eds entra em colapso, mas se ele vai preso o pa\u00eds tamb\u00e9m entra em colapso. O colapso parece inevit\u00e1vel. As raz\u00f5es prov\u00e1veis tem dividido os especialistas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Independente do diagn\u00f3stico, todo o mundo concorda que o ano j\u00e1 come\u00e7ou -a n\u00e3o ser aqueles que acreditam que o ano n\u00e3o vai come\u00e7ar. &#8220;To achando que n\u00e3o vai ter 2018&#8221;, vaticinam os mais pessimistas. Entre eles tem os que j\u00e1 est\u00e3o procurando na \u00e1rvore geneal\u00f3gica algum tatarav\u00f4 gringo pra dar entrada num passaporte.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cada ano tem sua sina, como mostram os livros e filmes que tem ano no t\u00edtulo. Se 1968 foi o ano que n\u00e3o terminou, 1969 foi o ano que mudou nossas vidas, 1970 foi o ano em que meus pais sa\u00edram de f\u00e9rias e 1974 foi o ano que come\u00e7ou em Abril, 2017 tem a sina mais estranha de todos os anos. 2017 \u00e9 o ano em que s\u00f3 se falou do ano seguinte.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A gente podia se distrair com o futebol, mas a Copa \u00e9 s\u00f3 no ano que vem. A gente s\u00f3 vai descobrir em 2018 se o 7 a 1** foi um lapso passageiro da nossa hist\u00f3ria gloriosa ou se a goleada marcou o in\u00edcio de uma nova era de vexames da sele\u00e7\u00e3o canarinho***. Alguma coisa se quebrou ali, resta saber se foi pra sempre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Se 2015 foi uma grande ressaca, 2017, coitado, t\u00e1 sendo uma grande v\u00e9spera. Mas n\u00e3o \u00e9 tipo v\u00e9spera de Natal quando voc\u00ea \u00e9 crian\u00e7a e voc\u00ea quer que chegue logo pra ganhar presente e comer rabanada e encontrar a fam\u00edlia. \u00c9 v\u00e9spera de Natal s\u00f3 que voc\u00ea \u00e9 adulto e voc\u00ea tem que comprar presente e produzir a rabanada e&#8230; encontrar a fam\u00edlia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">2017, coitado, talvez fique conhecido como &#8220;o ano em que s\u00f3 se falou do ano seguinte mas n\u00e3o porque todo o mundo queria que chegasse logo mas porque tudo indicava que seria terr\u00edvel&#8221;. Que ano estranho.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Chega de falar de 2017. E 2018, hein? Suddenly, from night to day, it was all about 2018. &#8220;What about 2018, huh? What&#8217;s going to happen?&#8221; It got worse, of course, over 2017. &#8220;What about 2018, huh? Are you thinking what I&#8217;m thinking?&#8221; Today, people no longer talk about the weather during small talk. At the first embarrassing silence, someone asks: &#8220;What about 2018, huh? What&#8217;s the hunch?&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Everybody has a theory. Some bet that Lula will win, others that he will be arrested, and there are those who think he will win and then be arrested, or be arrested and win from inside the prison. There are the apocalyptic ones: if he wins the country collapses, but if he is arrested the country also collapses. Collapse seems inevitable. The reasons have been dividing the experts.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Regardless of the diagnosis, everyone agrees that the year has already begun &#8211; except for those who believe the year will not begin. &#8220;I don\u2019t think there\u2019ll be a 2018,&#8221; predict the most pessimistic. Among them are those who are already looking in the family tree for some foreign great-grandfather to file for a passport.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Each year has its fate, as books and movies that have years in their title show. If 1968 was the year that did not end, 1969 was the year that changed our lives, 1970 was the year my parents went on vacation and 1974 was the year that started in April, 2017 has the strangest fate of all years. 2017 is the year when we only talked about the following year.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We could get distracted by soccer, but the World Cup is only next year. We will only find out in 2018 if the 7 to 1 was a passing lapse of our glorious history or if the rout marked the beginning of a new era of vexations of the \u201ccanarinho\u201d selection. Something has been broken there, it remains to be seen if it will be forever.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If 2015 was a major hangover, 2017, poor thing, has been a big eve. But it&#8217;s not like Christmas Eve when you&#8217;re a kid and you want it to happen soon so you can get a present and eat French toast and see your relatives. It&#8217;s Christmas Eve except you&#8217;re an adult and you have to buy gifts and make French toast and &#8230; see your relatives.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">2017, poor thing, maybe will be known as &#8220;the year we only talked about the following year but not because everybody wanted it to arrive soon but because everything indicated that it would be terrible.&#8221; What a strange year.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Enough talking about 2017. What about 2018, huh?
