Good afternoon, my people! Est\u00e3o no clima para um samba? Are you in the mood for some samba?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">One of the most popular and iconic <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">m\u00fasicas<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (songs) to talk about our country is the legendary <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Aquarela do Brasil<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. You have probably <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ouviu<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (heard) it before even if you\u2019re not Brazilian! It was<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> escrita <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(written) by Ary Barroso, a songwriter from the state of Minas Gerais, composed over such a stormy day that the author couldn\u2019t leave his house to party and decided to stay home and make some music. Originally <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">gravada<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (recorded) in 1939, it was later sung by a number of great artists ranging from Carmen Miranda to Frank Sinatra, Jo\u00e3o Gilberto, Gal Costa, Caetano Veloso, Elis Regina and Paul Anka. The song was not initially successful, rising to prominence only when it was included in the soundtrack for the 1942 Disney animated film<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Saludos Amigos<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. After that, it gained not just national but worldwide recognition, being the first Brazilian song to reach the mark of 1 million plays in the US radios and it has been featured in over <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">trinta<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (30) movies since then.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Aquarela do Brasil <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">is about Brazil\u2019s many <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">qualidades<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (qualities), praising our natural resources and riches of our<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> terra<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (land), celebrating our <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">belezas<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (beauties), our traditions and our people.
