Whatever they are, I am sure it envolves celebration, perhaps with the family or close friends. And whenever we think of celebration, we think of comida<\/em> (food). And what better way of exploring the topic than learning a receita<\/em> (recipe), and a typical Christmas one at that? So for today’s Christmas special post, let’s go over the steps on how to make a simple and easy\u00a0salpic\u00e3o<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

O que \u00e9? | What is it?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The salpic\u00e3o<\/strong> is a type of salad usually served for ceia<\/em> (supper) during end of the year festivities in Brazil. Although\u00a0it is traditionally a Christmas recipe, salpic\u00e3o<\/strong> is definitely a Sunday family lunch staple at every household as well. And because of its combination of chicken, vegetables and fruit, salpic\u00e3o<\/strong> makes for the perfect holiday meal since it is ver\u00e3o<\/em> (summer) in December here in the Southern hemisphere and we could all use a lighter, refreshing dish to cool ourselves on this hot weather. Ficou com fome? Are you hungry?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ingredientes | Ingredients<\/strong><\/h3>\n

  • 1kg de peito de frango cozido | 1kg of chicken breast, cooked<\/em><\/li>\n
  • Duas cenouras | Two carrots<\/em><\/li>\n
  • 300g de azeitona sem caro\u00e7o | 300g of pitted olives<\/em><\/li>\n
  • 200g passas | 200g raisins<\/em><\/li>\n
  • Uma lata de milho verde | A can of sweet corn<\/em><\/li>\n
  • Duas ma\u00e7\u00e3s | Two apples<\/em><\/li>\n
  • Uma cebola | An onion<\/em><\/li>\n
  • Uma lata de creme de leite | One can of heavy cream<\/em><\/li>\n
  • Salsinha, azeite e lim\u00e3o a gosto | Parsley, olive oil and lemon to taste<\/em><\/li>\n
  • 300g de batata palha | 300g of shoestring potatoes<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Modo de preparo | Steps<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    1. Cozinhe o frango e desfie |\u00a0Cook the chicken and shred it.<\/em><\/li>\n
    2. Coloque em um recipiente e adicione a cenoura ralada, milho, a ma\u00e7\u00e3 em cubinhos, a uva passa, a azeitona picadinha, e a cebola picada |\u00a0Put in a container and add the grated carrots, corn, apple in cubes, raisins, chopped olives, and chopped onion.<\/em><\/li>\n
    3. Misture bem |\u00a0Mix it up well.<\/em><\/li>\n
    4. Coloque o creme de leite e misture novamente|\u00a0Add the heavy cream and mix it up again.<\/em><\/li>\n
    5. Leve \u00e0 geladeira. Acrescente a batata palha na hora de servir |\u00a0Refrigerate. Add the shoestring potatoes when it is time to serve<\/em><\/li>\n
