I would like you to imagine a territory of approximately 1.5 million square kilometers, which is more than twice the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tamanho<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (size) of the state of Texas or the area of France, Spain, Sweden and Greece combined. Kinda big isn&#8217;t it? And this is the size of the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">maior estado<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">largest state) in Brazil, <\/span><b>Amazonas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and this is what we will be covering today. The Amazon is the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">floresta<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (forest) that, though located within the limits of the region, it expands across several other Brazilian states and even to other countries in South America. As for <\/span><b>Amazonas,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> it is the Brazilian state that lies in the northern region, sharing a <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fronteira <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(border) with Par\u00e1, Mato Grosso, Rond\u00f4nia, Acre, Roraima, in addition to three South American countries: Venezuela, Colombia and Peru. Its capital is Manaus, a city with just over 2.2 million inhabitants located at the junction of two large Amazon<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> rios<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (rivers), making it an important port and industrial center in the north.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You should know by now that the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">clima <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(weather) in <\/span><b>Amazonas<\/b> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00e9 quente e chuvoso<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (is hot and rainy) throughout the year. To give you an idea, the lowest temperature during <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">inverno<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (winter) is only 19\u02daC, and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">no ver\u00e3o<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (in summer) it easily reaches 42\u02daC. This tropical climate along with the countless giant rivers that run across the state provide the exuberance and variety of its flora and fauna. And it is precisely ecotourism that attracts most visitors to <\/span><b>Amazonas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can you picture yourself <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">no cora\u00e7\u00e3o<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (in the heart) of the largest tropical forest in the world, walking through the woods with local guides, taking a <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">passeio de barco <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(boat trip) along the rivers, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nadar na cachoeira<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (swimming in waterfalls), trying different local fruits that are unique and delicious and still having contact with wild animals like<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> macacos, p\u00e1ssaros e at\u00e9 o famoso boto-rosa<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (monkeys, birds , fish and even the famous pink dolphin)? In Amazonas all of this is possible, since the state has a vast network of accommodation and hotels that provide unique experiences for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">amantes da natureza<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (nature lovers).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With a strong influence of the indigenous people that live there, the typical Amazonian cuisine is made with a great variety of ingredients coming from the forests and rivers. Among the many <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">peixes de \u00e1gua doce<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">freshwater fish) consumed, two stand out: pirarucu and tambaqui. The first, also known as &#8220;Amazonian cod&#8221;, is one of the largest river fish in the world and can be 3 meters long and weigh more than 120 kilos. It has a firm and tasty meat that is used to make several local dishes, besides dumplings and sausages. The tambaqui has a slightly less firm meat, but no less delicious, so make sure to try its grilled ribs and also the famous fish stew called \u201ccaldeirada\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For vegetarians, the key is to enjoy not only the many native fruit juices in the region, such as cupua\u00e7u, soursop, tabereb\u00e1 or guaran\u00e1, but also a\u00e7a\u00ed, tapiocas, nut brittle made from manioc and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">castanha do par\u00e1<\/span><\/i> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Brazil nut ) and the most diverse farofas in the region. But the highlight is a typical sandwich from Amazonas, the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">X-caboquinho<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.Composed of<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> p\u00e3o<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (bread), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">queijo coalho<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (cheese), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ovo<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (egg), banana and thin slices of tucum\u00e3, a yellow fruit very common throughout the Amazon, this sandwich is a sensation among locals and tourists.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have you ever been to the Amazon?
