Brazil has a complicated relationship with money. Home to one of the world&#8217;s biggest <em>desigualdade econ\u00f4mica<\/em> (income gap), the country has always been grappling with <em>pobreza<\/em> (poverty). And it can sure be a lot easier if we have the linguistic skills to communicate about it, right? So today&#8217;s text will go over some terms to discuss personal finance in Portuguese. Vamos dar uma olhada? Prometo que vai compensar!<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><b>pegar emprestado, emprestar<\/b><b style=\"font-size: 16px\">\u00a0|\u00a0<\/b><em style=\"font-size: 16px\"><b>borrow, lend<\/b><\/em><\/h3>\n<p>In Portuguese, we don&#8217;t have two different verbs like in English, so we simply say<em> emprestar<\/em> for <em>lending<\/em> and <em>pegar emprestado<\/em> for <em>borrowing<\/em>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Oh, droga, deixei minha carteira no carro. Posso\u00a0<strong>pegar<\/strong>\u00a020 reais\u00a0<strong>emprestados<\/strong>?\u00a0| <em>Oh, shoot, I left my wallet in the car. Could I <strong>borrow<\/strong> 20 reais?<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Meu pai\u00a0<strong>me emprestou<\/strong>\u00a010.000 reais para cobrir parte das despesas do meu casamento\u00a0|\u00a0<\/span><em>My father <strong style=\"font-style: normal\">lent<\/strong>\u00a0me 10.000 dollars to cover part of my wedding expenses.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3
