Do you like gardening, or perhaps you farm for a living? Then you would probably like to know how to talk about growing things in Russian. This post will list a few common farming words to get you started.<\/p>\n

\u0421\u0430\u0434 translates as a garden or an orchard and is an important word for agriculture (\u0441\u0435<\/span>\u043b\u044c\u0441\u043a\u043e\u0435 \u0445\u043e\u0437\u044f<\/span>\u0439\u0441\u0442\u0432\u043e<\/strong>). A person who gardens for fun \u2014 or to grow food for their own consumption \u2014 is called \u0441\u0430\u0434\u043e\u0432\u043e<\/span>\u0434<\/strong>, not to be confused with \u0441\u0430\u0434\u043e<\/span>\u0432\u043d\u0438\u043a<\/strong> (gardener), someone who looks after other people’s, often decorative, gardens. \u041f\u043e<\/span>\u043b\u0435<\/strong> (field; plural \u043f\u043e\u043b\u044f) is another important word for agriculture. \u041f\u043e\u043b\u0435\u0432\u044b<\/span>\u0435 \u0446\u0432\u0435\u0442\u044b<\/span><\/strong> refers to wild flowers. Another place for growing things that comes to mind is \u043b\u0443\u0433<\/strong> (meadow, plural \u043b\u0443\u0433\u0430<\/span><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

The related noun is \u043f\u043e\u043b\u0438<\/span>\u0432<\/strong>, although you may also come across \u0438\u0440\u0440\u0438\u0433\u0430<\/span>\u0446\u0438\u044f<\/strong> in more formal contexts.<\/p>\n
