Note that their name in Ukrainian is\u00a0<em>\u043a\u043e\u0437\u0430\u043a\u0438\u0301<\/em>, which is why you might have seen the spelling\u00a0<em>kozak\u00a0<\/em>in English or the last name Kozakov.<\/p>\n<p>The best-known Cossack societies are <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Zaporozhian_Cossacks\">Zaporizhia Cossacks<\/a> (<strong>\u0437\u0430\u043f\u043e\u0440<span style=\"color: #00ccff\">\u043e<\/span>\u0436\u0441\u043a\u0438\u0435 \u043a\u0430\u0437<span style=\"color: #00ccff\">\u0430<\/span>\u043a\u0438<\/strong>) and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Don_Cossacks\">Don Cossacks<\/a> (<strong>\u0434\u043e\u043d\u0441\u043a<span style=\"color: #00ccff\">\u0438<\/span>\u0435 \u043a\u0430\u0437<span style=\"color: #00ccff\">\u0430<\/span>\u043a\u0438<\/strong>), named after the geographical areas they lived in. It seems that Cossacks came from <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cossacks#Early_history\">various ethnic backgrounds<\/a>, such as Belorussians, Russians, Ukrainians, Turks, and Tatars. You may recognize this name from the country Kazakhstan (<strong>\u041a\u0430\u0437\u0430\u0445\u0441\u0442<span style=\"color: #00ccff\">\u0430<\/span>\u043d<\/strong>). Note that \u043a\u0430\u0437\u0430\u0445 is the Russian name for this group; the corresponding word in the Kazakh language is\u00a0<em>q\u0251z\u0251\u0301q<\/em>. Kazakhs are thought to be <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kazakhs\">of Turkic and Mongol origins<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from the nation of Kazakhstan, Kazakhs also live in Russia (<strong>\u0420\u043e\u0441\u0441<span style=\"color: #00ccff\">\u0438<\/span>\u044f<\/strong>), China (<strong>\u041a\u0438\u0442<span style=\"color: #00ccff\">\u0430<\/span>\u0439<\/strong>), and Mongolia (<strong>\u041c\u043e\u043d\u0433<span style=\"color: #00ccff\">\u043e<\/span>\u043b\u0438\u044f<\/strong>).
