However, I can think of several things that are likely to be missed by many Russians abroad and perhaps by some people from the neighboring countries, too.<\/p>\n<h2>Tea Kettle<\/h2>\n<p>As we mentioned on this blog before, tea drinking (<strong>\u0447\u0430\u0435\u043f<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u0438<\/span>\u0442\u0438\u0435<\/strong>, also meaning &#8220;tea party&#8221;) is an <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/russian\/tea-in-russia-is-more-than-just-tea\/\">indispensable part<\/a> of living in Russia. You will likely be offered tea (<strong>\u0447\u0430\u0439<\/strong>) if you visit someone at home in Russia. Tea is usually savored and not gulped on the run (<strong>\u043d\u0430 \u0445\u043e\u0434<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u0443<\/span><\/strong>). As a result, most Russian families will have the proper equipment for making tea, such as a tea kettle (<strong>\u0447<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u0430<\/span>\u0439\u043d\u0438\u043a<\/strong>) and a tea pot (<strong>\u0437\u0430\u0432<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u0430<\/span>\u0440\u043e\u0447\u043d\u044b\u0439 \u0447<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u0430<\/span>\u0439\u043d\u0438\u043a<\/strong>, used for steeping concentrated tea, which is then mixed with hot water). If you ask a Russian, microwaving water for making tea is blasphemy.<\/p>\n<h2>Slippers<\/h2>\n<p>As you may know, people in Russia usually take off their shoes indoors and put on slippers (<strong>\u0442<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u0430<\/span>\u043f\u043e\u0447\u043a\u0438<\/strong>) especially kept near the door for this purpose. In airports and other places where you are expected to take off your shoes, you may be given plastic slippers (<strong>\u0431\u0430\u0445<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u0438<\/span>\u043b\u044b<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<h2>Shoe Repair<\/h2>\n<p>Generally speaking, Russians <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/russian\/three-ways-the-ussr-was-unintentionally-environmentally-friendly\/\">don&#8217;t like to throw things out<\/a> at the first sign of wear. As a result, you can find many shoe repair shops (<strong>\u0440\u0435\u043c<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u043e<\/span>\u043d\u0442 <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u043e<\/span>\u0431\u0443\u0432\u0438<\/strong>) in Russian cities. Most Russians live in tall apartment buildings with central heating (<strong>\u0446\u0435\u043d\u0442\u0440<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u0430<\/span>\u043b\u044c\u043d\u043e\u0435 \u043e\u0442\u043e\u043f\u043b<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u0435<\/span>\u043d\u0438\u0435<\/strong>), so the temperature indoors never dips below 20 degrees Celsius as long as the heating is on.<\/p>\n<h2>Static Remover<\/h2>\n<p>Personally, I have had a hard time finding a static remover (<strong>\u0430\u043d\u0442\u0438\u0441\u0442<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u0430<\/span>\u0442\u0438\u043a<\/strong>) since moving from Russia. <strong>\u0410\u043d\u0442\u0438\u0441\u0442\u0430\u0442\u0438\u043a<\/strong> is an aerosol that you spray on your clothes or furniture to remove static electricity.
