Normally, that&#8217;s soup (<strong>\u0441\u0443\u043f<\/strong>), served as your first course (<strong>\u043f<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u0435<\/span>\u0440\u0432\u043e\u0435<\/strong>). A meal consisting of only dry items like a sandwich is frowned upon as unbalanced. Some people will have foods that we don&#8217;t immediately associate with breakfast (<strong>\u0437<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u0430<\/span>\u0432\u0442\u0440\u0430\u043a<\/strong>), such as bologna (<strong>\u043a\u043e\u043b\u0431\u0430\u0441<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u0430<\/span><\/strong>) or other &#8220;heavy&#8221; leftovers from yesterday&#8217;s lunch. More typically, however, people have savory foods for breakfast (<strong>\u043d\u0430 \u0437\u0430\u0432\u0442\u0440\u0430\u043a<\/strong>), which may encompass oats, eggs, or dairy:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u044f<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u0438<\/span>\u0447\u043d\u0438\u0446\u0430<\/strong> ([fried] eggs, note that the word for raw\/hard-boiled eggs is \u044f\u0439\u0446\u0430)<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u043a<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u0430<\/span>\u0448\u0430<\/strong> (hot cereal)<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u0441<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u044b<\/span>\u0440\u043d\u0438\u043a\u0438<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Syrniki\">cheese patties<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u0442\u0432<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u043e<\/span>\u0440\u043e\u0433<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Quark_(dairy_product)\">a type of fresh cheese<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Of course, some people will have such &#8220;international&#8221; foods as granola (<strong>\u043c<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u044e<\/span>\u0441\u043b\u0438<\/strong>), yogurt (<strong>\u0439<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u043e<\/span>\u0433\u0443\u0440\u0442<\/strong>), or cold cereal (<strong>\u0445\u043b<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u043e<\/span>\u043f\u044c\u044f<\/strong>). However, their preference for warm drinks goes beyond that. Of course, &#8220;cold&#8221; drinks such as mineral water (<strong>\u043c\u0438\u043d\u0435\u0440<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u0430<\/span>\u043b\u044c\u043d\u0430\u044f \u0432\u043e\u0434<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u0430<\/span><\/strong>), juice (<strong>\u0441\u043e\u043a<\/strong>), <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kvass\">kvass<\/a> (<strong>\u043a\u0432\u0430\u0441<\/strong>), <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kompot\">kompot<\/a> (<strong>\u043a\u043e\u043c\u043f<span style=\"color: #ff6600\">\u043e<\/span>\u0442<\/strong>) or <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mors_(drink)\">mors<\/a> (<strong>\u043c\u043e\u0440\u0441<\/strong>) may be served, too. However, your average Russian is wary of overly cold drinks to the point where they may wait for the drink to reach room temperature before serving it.
