1. 12<\/em><\/h2>\n

The film 12 (“\u0414\u0432\u0435\u043d\u0430<\/span>\u0434\u0446\u0430\u0442\u044c<\/strong>“) is Nikita Mikhalkov<\/a>‘s (\u041d\u0438\u043a\u0438<\/span>\u0442\u0430 \u041c\u0438\u0445\u0430\u043b\u043a\u043e<\/span>\u0432<\/strong>) remake of an earlier movie called\u00a012 Angry Men<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em>The film follows jury deliberations in a trial of a young Chechen man accused of killing his Russian stepfather. Initially, all but one jurors find him guilty. 12\u00a0<\/em>was nominated for the Academy award for the Best Foreign Language Film in 2008.\u00a0The film is currently available on\u00a0Netflix<\/a>,\u00a0YouTube<\/a>, Vudu<\/a>, Google Play<\/a>, iTunes<\/a>, and Amazon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

2. Tsar <\/em>(\u0426\u0430\u0440\u044c)<\/h2>\n

Tsar<\/em>, directed by Pavel Lungin<\/a> (\u041f\u0430<\/span>\u0432\u0435\u043b \u041b\u0443\u043d\u0433\u0438<\/span>\u043d<\/strong>), takes place during the last two years in the life of Ivan IV (“the Terrible;” \u0418\u0432\u0430<\/span>\u043d \u0413\u0440\u043e<\/span>\u0437\u043d\u044b\u0439<\/strong>), who believes he’s on a mission from God and concentrates more and more power in his hands. Ivan’s actions are challenged by his childhood friend Metropolitan Philip. Philip was the last role for Oleg Yankovsky (\u041e\u043b\u0435<\/span>\u0433 \u042f\u043d\u043a\u043e<\/span>\u0432\u0441\u043a\u0438\u0439<\/strong>), who died in 2009. The film can be watched on Amazon<\/a> or YouTube<\/a>.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0How I Ended This Summer\u00a0<\/em>(\u041a\u0430\u043a \u044f \u043f\u0440\u043e\u0432\u0451\u043b \u044d<\/span>\u0442\u0438\u043c \u043b\u0435<\/span>\u0442\u043e\u043c)<\/h2>\n

This film by Alexey Popogrebsk<\/a>y (\u0410\u043b\u0435\u043a\u0441\u0435<\/span>\u0439 \u041f\u043e\u043f\u043e\u0433\u0440\u0435<\/span>\u0431\u0441\u043a\u0438\u0439<\/strong>) shows the relationship between veteran meteorologist Sergei (\u0421\u0435\u0440\u0433\u0435<\/span>\u0439<\/strong>) who works at a polar weather research station and his young new assistant Pasha (\u041f\u0430<\/span>\u0448\u0430<\/strong>). Sergei scolds Pasha for being cutting corners and being irresponsible, so when Pasha learns some bad news about Sergei’s family he cannot bring himself to share it. The film has won multiple awards<\/a> and is available on Amazon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

4. Leviathan<\/em> (\u041b\u0435\u0432\u0438\u0430\u0444\u0430<\/span>\u043d)<\/h2>\n

This award-winning<\/a> film by Andrey Zvyagintsev<\/a> (\u0410\u043d\u0434\u0440\u0435<\/span>\u0439 \u0417\u0432\u044f<\/span>\u0433\u0438\u043d\u0446\u0435\u0432<\/strong>) depicts the struggle between Kolya (\u041a\u043e<\/span>\u043b\u044f<\/strong>), a mechanic living in a small town in the Russian North, and the town mayor called Vadim (\u0412\u0430\u0434\u0438<\/span>\u043c<\/strong>), who wants the land Kolya’s house stands on. The mayor’s tactic become increasingly shady as he targets Kolya’s family and friends. This movie is available on YouTube<\/a>, Vudu<\/a>, Google Play<\/a>, iTunes<\/a>, and Amazon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

5. I Won’t Come Back<\/em> (\u042f \u043d\u0435 \u0432\u0435\u0440\u043d\u0443<\/span>\u0441\u044c)<\/h2>\n

This Russian\/Kazakh film by the Estonian director\u00a0Ilmar Raag<\/a> (\u0418\u043b\u044c\u043c\u0430\u0440 \u0420\u0430\u0430\u0433<\/strong>) tells the story of a young graduate student named Anya (\u0410<\/span>\u043d\u044f<\/strong>) who is falsely accused of drug possession and runs away pretending to be a homeless teenager. She meets an orphan named Kristina (\u041a\u0440\u0438\u0441\u0442\u0438<\/span>\u043d\u0430<\/strong>) and the two set out for the village in Kazakhstan where Kristina’s grandmother lives. The film is available on YouTube<\/a> and Amazon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

6. The Italian<\/em> (\u0418\u0442\u0430\u043b\u044c\u044f<\/span>\u043d\u0435\u0446)<\/h2>\n

The Italian<\/em> by Andrei Kravchuk<\/a> (\u0410\u043d\u0434\u0440\u0435<\/span>\u0439 \u041a\u0440\u0430\u0432\u0447\u0443<\/span>\u043a<\/strong>) follows Vanya (\u0412\u0430<\/span>\u043d\u044f<\/strong>), a child living in a group home, who is due to be adopted by a couple from Italy but decides to look for his birth mother instead.\u00a0You can watch the movie on YouTube<\/a>, Vudu<\/a>, Google Play<\/a>, iTunes<\/a>, and Amazon<\/a>.<\/p>\n
