{"id":12033,"date":"2019-11-06T07:15:20","date_gmt":"2019-11-06T07:15:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/russian\/?p=12033"},"modified":"2019-11-05T23:30:53","modified_gmt":"2019-11-05T23:30:53","slug":"russian-recipe-beet-salad-with-garlic-and-walnuts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/russian\/russian-recipe-beet-salad-with-garlic-and-walnuts\/","title":{"rendered":"Russian Recipe: Beet Salad with Garlic and Walnuts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When we talk about Russian cuisine, the same dishes keep coming up\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/russian\/10-essential-words-for-celebrating-the-russian-new-year\/\">Olivier salad<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/russian\/popular-nutritious-russian-dishes-and-food-items\/\">borsch{t}<\/a> (arguably of Ukrainian provenance), <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/russian\/making-russian-pelmeni\/\"><em>pelmeni<\/em><\/a>, etc. This time, let&#8217;s make a lesser-known\u2014but delicious!\u2014dish popular in Russia: a beet salad.<\/p>\n<p>You may remember that beets (<strong>\u0441\u0432\u0451\u043a\u043b\u0430<\/strong>) feature in some other Russian dishes, such as the already mentioned borsch, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/russian\/want-to-cook-a-russian-dish-try-vinegret\/\"><em>vinegret<\/em><\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/russian\/are-you-ready-for-the-new-year\/\">&#8220;herring under a coat.&#8221;<\/a> To make this post more hands-on, I will actually make the beet salad! As you will see from my directions, I don&#8217;t tend to measure things out very precisely or time them. Our salad is ready. Just let it chill and serve.
