This word can mean both boarding the plane for people and landing for the plane. How did that happen?<\/p>\n<p>Well, the verb <strong>\u0441\u0430\u0434\u0438\u0301\u0442\u044c\u0441\u044f<\/strong> literally means to sit down in Russian. So, on the one hand, you have people &#8220;sitting down&#8221; inside the plane (=boarding) and, on the other hand, you have the plane &#8220;sitting down&#8221; on the ground (=landing).
