June 12 is Russia Day. What exactly are we celebrating on that day?<\/span><\/p>\n

Not Independence Day<\/h2>\n

Russia Day<\/a> <\/i><\/span>(<\/span>\u0414\u0435\u043d\u044c \u0420\u043e\u0441\u0441\u0438\u0301<\/span><\/em><\/span>\u0438<\/i><\/span>) is one of the newest national public holidays in Russia. It has been celebrated since 1992. This day marks the formation of the <\/span>Russian Federation<\/i><\/span> (<\/span>\u0420\u043e\u0441\u0441\u0438\u0301<\/span><\/em><\/span>\u0439\u0441\u043a\u0430\u044f \u0424\u0435\u0434\u0435\u0440\u0430\u0301<\/span><\/em><\/span>\u0446\u0438\u044f<\/i><\/span>) as a <\/span>sovereign<\/i><\/span> (<\/span>\u0441\u0443\u0432\u0435\u0440\u0435\u0301<\/span><\/em><\/span>\u043d\u043d\u044b\u0439\/\u043d\u0435\u0437\u0430\u0432\u0438\u0301<\/span><\/em><\/span>\u0441\u0438\u043c\u044b\u0439<\/i><\/span>) country after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sometimes people incorrectly call Russia Day <\/span>Independence Day<\/i><\/span> (<\/span>\u0414\u0435\u043d\u044c \u041d\u0435\u0437\u0430\u0432\u0438\u0301<\/span><\/em><\/span>\u0441\u0438\u043c\u043e\u0441\u0442\u0438<\/i><\/span>)<\/span>. But this wording is not the official term. <\/span>In fact, <\/span>it<\/span> was not the<\/span> independence<\/i><\/span> (<\/span>\u043d\u0435\u0437\u0430\u0432\u0438\u0301<\/span><\/em><\/span>\u0441\u0438\u043c\u043e\u0441\u0442\u044c<\/i><\/span>) from the Soviet Union as such. <\/span>More precisely, it was a statement that from that time, Russia could adopt its own <\/span>laws<\/i><\/span> (<\/span>\u0437\u0430\u043a\u043e\u0301<\/span><\/em><\/span>\u043d\u044b<\/i><\/span>)<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, the Declaration<\/i> (<\/span>\u0414\u0435\u043a\u043b\u0430\u0440\u0430\u0301<\/span><\/em><\/span>\u0446\u0438\u044f<\/i><\/span>)<\/span> itself was adopted two years earlier \u2014 in<\/span> 1990<\/span>. However, this is the foundation on which the holiday itself is built. Therefore, I will tell you a little about the<\/span> document<\/i> (<\/span>\u0434\u043e\u043a\u0443\u043c\u0435\u0301<\/span><\/em><\/span>\u043d\u0442<\/i><\/span>)<\/span>.<\/p>\n
