But of course you do! All good things come to an end, people speaking other languages claim. Thus my reality has changed drastically in the past couple of months \u2013 not only have I met a new country, but an entire new world of responsibilities, opportunities and adventures has opened up before me. And no matter how much it makes me sad to say so, I realize that this is \u00ab<\/strong>\u043f\u0435\u0440\u0435\u043a\u0440\u0451<\/span>\u0441\u0442\u043e\u043a\u00bb<\/strong> [the crossroads] of my personal road and the road of the Russian blog.<\/p>\n

This is my last \u00ab<\/strong>\u043f\u043e\u0441\u0442\u00bb<\/strong> [post \u2013 even though some of the\u00a0nit-pickier might say that this word in Russian should be used only for talking about different kinds of fasts, \u00ab<\/strong>\u0432\u0435\u043b\u0438<\/span>\u043a\u0438\u0439 <\/strong>\u043f\u043e\u0441\u0442\u00bb <\/strong>[lent], for example, and not be confused with texts submitted to blogs of various kinds]. But before I take my final bow, I really want to say \u00ab<\/strong>\u0441\u043f\u0430\u0441\u0438<\/span>\u0431\u043e\u00bb<\/strong> [thank you] to all of you, the readers, \u00ab<\/strong>\u043c\u043e\u0438<\/span> <\/strong>\u043c\u0438<\/span>\u043b\u044b\u0435 <\/strong>\u0434\u0440\u0443\u0437\u044c\u044f<\/span>\u00bb<\/strong> [my sweet friends], for the essential contribution you have made by way of your comments \u2013 as well as guest posts \u2013 to this blog. It is true that nothing written ever comes into existence before it is read; and thus only through you can I some day in a very distant future say that once upon a time, when I was a young girl and living in Russia, did I work as a professional blogger\u2026 I want to say \u00ab<\/strong>\u0441\u043f\u0430\u0441\u0438<\/span>\u0431\u043e\u00bb<\/strong> [thank you] for every time anyone of you have corrected my spelling or my grammar \u2013 in Russian as well as in English (I wouldn\u2019t be the kind of writer I am today if it wasn\u2019t for such corrections!) <\/em>\u2013 \u00a0and for all the times we have connected on a deeper level through Russia as a country, Russia as culture, Russia as literature, and Russian language as a way of life. My life, though located outside of Russia geographically, continues to move inside of Russia on several levels. I\u2019ll continue to teach Russian here at the university; and master more and more while traveling along on the magical mystery tour known as a career \u00ab<\/strong>\u0432 <\/strong>\u043d\u0430\u0443<\/span>\u043a\u0435\u00bb <\/strong>[in science\/academia]… And one day \u2013 which now seems so distant and far \u2013 I will become that \u00ab<\/strong>\u043f\u0440\u043e\u0444\u0435<\/span>\u0441\u0441\u043e\u0440 <\/strong>\u0440\u0443<\/span>\u0441\u0441\u043a\u043e\u0439 <\/strong>\u043b\u0438\u0442\u0435\u0440\u0430\u0442\u0443<\/span>\u0440\u044b\u00bb <\/strong>[professor of Russian literature] I dreamed of becoming when I was a teenager. And one day \u2013 who knows, right? \u2013 you might send your kids to college and as you do, urge them to take a class in Russian language or literature, and \u2013 once again, who knows? \u2013 I might turn out to be the one to teach them. I promise I\u2019ll go easy on them and take it one \u00ab<\/strong>\u043f\u0430\u0434\u0435<\/span>\u0436\u00bb<\/strong> [case] at a time\u2026<\/p>\n

If there were more time, I would stay on and blog for infinity.
