Once upon a time, back in the time of the turbulent 90’s, there was a political party called \u00ab\u041d\u0430\u0440\u043e<\/span>\u0434\u043d\u0430\u044f \u043f\u0430<\/span>\u0440\u0442\u0438\u044f\u00bb<\/a><\/strong> [\u2018The People’s Party’<\/em>] in Russia<\/a>. I do not know anything about this party, all I know is that it no longer exists<\/a>, except for on the sticker on the picture above. It’s on one of the doors in my dormitory, and I’ve walked past it every day for over two years, always nodding and agreeing with the message written on there. But let’s take a look at the word \u00ab\u0433\u0435\u0440\u043e<\/span>\u0439\u00bb<\/a><\/strong> [hero<\/a>]. It ends on the letter \u00ab\u0439\u00bb<\/strong> which can cause some trouble for the foreigner when putting it through the rough reality of six Russian cases. The key is to remember that the vowel \u00ab\u0435\u00bb<\/strong> is in Russian actually not just an ‘e’<\/em> but \u00ab\u0439\u0435\u00bb<\/strong>, thus making it two letters in one. The same also goes for the following vowels in Russian language: \u00ab\u044f\u00bb<\/strong> which is really \u00ab\u0439\u0430\u00bb<\/strong>, \u00ab\u044e\u00bb<\/strong> which is \u00ab\u0439\u0443\u00bb<\/strong>, and \u00ab\u0451\u00bb<\/strong> which stands for the sound \u00ab\u0439\u043e\u00bb<\/strong>. Now that kind of massive information may make your head spin – it’s happened to the best of us! – so let’s take a look at what the j+vowel rule<\/em> does to the word \u00ab\u0433\u0435\u0440\u043e<\/span>\u0439\u00bb<\/strong> and hope it’ll clear some things up.<\/p>\n
