But one thing is for sure &#8211; Russians here in the US celebrate a lot more holidays than average Americans. We eagerly adopt many American holidays, especially the ones that guarantee an extra day off. But we never abandon <strong>\u00ab\u0441\u0432\u043e<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0438<\/span> \u043f\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0430<\/span>\u0437\u0434\u043d\u0438\u043a\u0438\u00bb<\/strong> [our own holidays].<\/p>\n<p>So the last few days have been a blur of Facebook <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u043f\u043e\u0437\u0434\u0440\u0430\u0432\u043b<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u044f<\/span>\u0435\u043c\u00bb<\/strong>s [congratulations] messages, phone calls from my Russian friends, and <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u043f\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0430<\/span>\u0437\u0434\u043d\u0438\u0447\u043d\u044b\u0435 <\/strong><strong>\u0441\u0442\u0438\u0445<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0438<\/span>\u00bb<\/strong> [holiday-themed poems] on Odnoklassniki.ru, one of Russia\u2019s most popular social networking sites.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, when it comes to celebrating, <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0445\u043e\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u043e<\/span>\u0448\u0435\u0433\u043e <\/strong><strong>\u043f\u043e\u043d\u0435\u043c\u043d<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u043e<\/span>\u0436\u043a\u0443\u00bb<\/strong> [too much of a good thing isn\u2019t good] is replaced with <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0447\u0435\u043c <\/strong><strong>\u0431<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u043e<\/span>\u043b\u044c\u0448\u0435, <\/strong><strong>\u0442\u0435\u043c <\/strong><strong>\u043b<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0443<\/span>\u0447\u0448\u0435\u00bb<\/strong> [the more the better].<\/p>\n<p>This <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u043d\u0430\u0441\u0442\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u043e<\/span>\u0439\u00bb<\/strong> [attitude] is contagious. I want to <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u043e\u043a\u0443\u043d<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0443<\/span>\u0442\u044c\u0441\u044f <\/strong><strong>\u0432 <\/strong><strong>\u0440\u0430\u0431<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u043e<\/span>\u0442\u0443\u00bb<\/strong> [lit. dive into work] and write lots of great <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u043f\u043e\u0441\u0442<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u044b<\/span>\u00bb<\/strong> [blog posts]. Of course, as the Russian saying goes, <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0435<\/span><\/strong><strong>\u0441\u043b\u0438 <\/strong><strong>\u0445<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u043e<\/span>\u0447\u0435\u0448\u044c <\/strong><strong>\u043f\u043e\u0440\u0430\u0431<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u043e<\/span>\u0442\u0430\u0442\u044c, <\/strong><strong>\u043b\u044f\u0433 <\/strong><strong>\u043f\u043e\u0441\u043f<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0438<\/span> <\/strong><strong>\u0438 <\/strong><strong>\u0432\u0441\u0451 <\/strong><strong>\u043f\u0440\u043e\u0439\u0434<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0451<\/span>\u0442\u00bb<\/strong> [if you have an urge to work, take a nap and it will pass]. \u00a0So I\u2019m stocking up on <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0447<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0451<\/span>\u0440\u043d\u044b\u0439 <\/strong><strong>\u0447\u0430\u0439\u00bb<\/strong> [black tea] and <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0448\u043e\u043a\u043e\u043b<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0430<\/span>\u0434\u00bb <\/strong>[chocolate], the two of my favorite energy sources. Not a chance of me napping on this diet.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s something else that psyches me up this month &#8211; turns out, over the last year and a half, I\u2019ve written 99 posts for this blog.
