Isn\u2019t summer fun?! Or for our Southern Hemisphere readers – isn\u2019t winter pleasant? So let me ask you this – \u00ab<\/strong>\u041a\u0430\u043a <\/strong>\u043f\u0440\u043e\u0445\u043e<\/span>\u0434\u0438\u0442 <\/strong>\u043b\u0435<\/span>\u0442\u043e (<\/strong>\u0438<\/span><\/strong>\u043b\u0438 <\/strong>\u0437\u0438\u043c\u0430<\/span>)?\u00bb<\/strong> [How\u2019s your summer\/winter going so far?] I hope you get to spend a lot of time \u00ab<\/strong>\u0432 <\/strong>\u0431\u0430\u0441\u0441\u0435<\/span>\u0439\u043d\u0435\u00bb<\/strong> [at the pool] or \u00ab<\/strong>\u043d\u0430 <\/strong>\u043f\u043b\u044f<\/span>\u0436\u0435\u00bb<\/strong> [at the beach], hopefully reading some great Russian literary works of art. But aren\u2019t you forgetting something, namely \u00ab<\/strong>\u0433\u0440\u0430\u043c\u043c\u0430<\/span>\u0442\u0438\u043a\u0430 <\/strong>\u0440\u0443<\/span>\u0441\u0441\u043a\u043e\u0433\u043e <\/strong>\u044f\u0437\u044b\u043a\u0430<\/span>\u00bb<\/strong> [Russian grammar].<\/p>\n

Groan\u2026 Ok, so \u00ab<\/strong>\u043e<\/span><\/strong>\u0442\u0434\u044b\u0445\u00bb<\/strong> [rest] and \u00ab<\/strong>\u043f\u0440\u0430<\/span>\u0432\u0438\u043b\u0430 <\/strong>\u0433\u0440\u0430\u043c\u043c\u0430<\/span>\u0442\u0438\u043a\u0438\u00bb<\/strong> [grammar rules] don\u2019t exactly go together. Especially when the grammar is Russian, full of elaborate rules and endless exceptions. \u00ab<\/strong>\u0414\u0430 <\/strong>\u0443\u0436, <\/strong>\u043d\u0435 <\/strong>\u0432\u0435<\/span>\u0441\u0435\u043b\u043e, <\/strong>\u043d\u043e <\/strong>\u043d\u0430<\/span>\u0434\u043e\u00bb<\/strong> [Well, grammar is not fun, but it\u2019s a must-do]<\/p>\n

Fortunately, there\u2019s \u00ab<\/strong>\u043f\u0440\u043e\u0441\u0442\u043e<\/span>\u0439 <\/strong>\u043a\u043e\u043c\u043f\u0440\u043e\u043c\u0438<\/span>\u0441\u0441\u00bb<\/strong> [a simple compromise]. How about reviewing (instead of learning) something, say \u00ab<\/strong>\u043d\u0430\u0440\u0435<\/span>\u0447\u0438\u044f\u00bb<\/strong> [adverbs]. Why adverbs? Because they are so darn useful, especially when \u00ab<\/strong>\u043d\u0430 <\/strong>\u0443<\/span><\/strong>\u043b\u0438\u0446\u0435 <\/strong>\u0436\u0430<\/span>\u0440\u043a\u043e\u00bb <\/strong>[it\u2019s hot outside].<\/p>\n

The great news here is that adverbs in Russian language do not decline. Hooray! \u00ab<\/strong>\u0412\u0435\u043b\u0438\u043a\u043e\u043b\u0435<\/span>\u043f\u043d\u043e! <\/strong>\u041e\u0442\u043b\u0438<\/span>\u0447\u043d\u043e! <\/strong>\u041f\u0440\u0435\u043a\u0440\u0430<\/span>\u0441\u043d\u043e!\u00bb<\/strong> [It\u2019s great! It\u2019s perfect! It\u2019s nice!]<\/p>\n

Russian language is rich in adverbs. They are such handy answers to questions such as<\/p>\n

While not all adverbs are formed the same way, many are created when adjectival endings \u00ab-<\/strong>\u044b\u0439\u00bb, \u00ab-<\/strong>\u043e\u0439\u00bb, \u00ab-<\/strong>\u0438\u0439\u00bb<\/strong> are removed and replaced with \u00ab-<\/strong>\u043e\u00bb<\/strong>:<\/p>\n
