If you\u2019ve been reading this blog for a while, you already know a lot about 1st<\/sup> of September in Russia. In fact, last year we had an entire post about this day and the tradition<\/a> of \u00ab<\/strong>\u043f\u0435<\/span>\u0440\u0432\u044b\u0439 <\/strong>\u0437\u0432\u043e\u043d\u043e<\/span>\u043a\u00bb<\/strong> [first ringing of a bell].<\/p>\n

You also probably remember that \u00ab<\/strong>\u041a\u0430\u043a <\/strong>\u044f <\/strong>\u043f\u0440\u043e\u0432\u0451<\/span>\u043b <\/strong>\u043b\u0435<\/span>\u0442\u043e\u00bb<\/strong> [How I spent the summer] is the first essay of the year for many Russian students<\/a>. While \u00ab<\/strong>\u0448\u043a\u043e<\/span>\u043b\u044c\u043d\u0438\u043a\u0438\u00bb<\/strong> [male students] and \u00ab<\/strong>\u0448\u043a\u043e<\/span>\u043b\u044c\u043d\u0438\u0446\u044b\u00bb<\/strong> [female students] are busy writing their essays, their \u00ab<\/strong>\u0443\u0447\u0438\u0442\u0435\u043b\u044f<\/span>\u00bb<\/strong> [male teachers] and \u00ab<\/strong>\u0443\u0447\u0438<\/span>\u0442\u0435\u043b\u044c\u043d\u0438\u0446\u044b\u00bb<\/strong> [female teachers] are busy figuring out just how much of what was taught last year stuck around. Summer vacations are sweet; learning loss – not so much.<\/p>\n

So let me assume for a moment a role of \u00ab<\/strong>\u0441\u0442\u0440\u043e<\/span>\u0433\u0430\u044f\u00bb<\/strong> [strict] \u00ab<\/strong>\u0443\u0447\u0438\u043b\u043a\u0430\u00bb<\/strong> [informal: female teacher]. And you will be \u00ab<\/strong>\u043c\u043e\u0438<\/span> <\/strong>\u0443\u0447\u0435\u043d\u0438\u043a\u0438<\/span>\u00bb<\/strong> [my students].<\/p>\n
