Or you can skip the mall madness altogether and learn how <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0431\u043b\u0430\u0433\u043e\u0434\u0430\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0438<\/span>\u0442\u044c\u00bb<\/strong> [to give thanks] in Russian.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0411\u043b\u0430\u0433\u043e\u0434\u0430\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0438<\/span>\u0442\u044c\u00bb<\/strong> [to give thanks, to thank] is the imperfective verb. Its perfective form is <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u043e\u0442\u0431\u043b\u0430\u0433\u043e\u0434\u0430\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0438<\/span>\u0442\u044c\u00bb<\/strong> or <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u043f\u043e\u0431\u043b\u0430\u0433\u043e\u0434\u0430\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0438<\/span>\u0442\u044c\u00bb<\/strong>. Look closely and you will see the words <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0431\u043b<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0430<\/span>\u0433\u043e\u00bb<\/strong> [good, blessing] and <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0434\u0430\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0438<\/span>\u0442\u044c\u00bb<\/strong> [to gift]. Now, if this combination of \u201cto give blessing\u201d sounds familiar, you are probably thinking of the Eucharist (Holy Communion). After all, the word \u201ceucharist\u201d is Greek in origin and <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0431\u043b\u0430\u0433\u043e\u0434\u0430\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0435<\/span>\u043d\u0438\u0435\u00bb<\/strong> [thanksgiving] is it\u2019s direct translation.<\/p>\n<p>There are quite a few Russian expressions of <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0431\u043b\u0430\u0433\u043e\u0434<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0430<\/span>\u0440\u043d\u043e\u0441\u0442\u044c\u00bb<\/strong> [gratitude] that use this word.
