Still, there\u2019s always room for just one more ornament, isn\u2019t there? That\u2019s why today <strong>\u044f <\/strong><strong>\u043d\u0430\u0443\u0447<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0443<\/span> <\/strong><strong>\u0432\u0430\u0441<\/strong> (I will teach you) how to make a very simple <strong>\u0443\u043a\u0440\u0430\u0448<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u043d\u0438\u0435<\/strong> (an ornament) that even children can make <strong>\u0437\u0430 <\/strong><strong>\u043d<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u0441\u043a\u043e\u043b\u044c\u043a\u043e <\/strong><strong>\u043c\u0438\u043d<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0443<\/span>\u0442<\/strong> (in just a few minutes).<\/p>\n<p>Actually, I\u2019m going to show it with a video. Yep, this is something new I\u2019m trying for the blog. This way you get to hear the Russian words as well as read them.<\/p>\n<p>Now, since this is my first ever video, not just for this blog, but like for everything, it is not very fancy. <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u042d<\/span><\/strong><strong>\u043c\u043c\u0438\u00bb <\/strong><strong>\u0437\u0430 <\/strong><strong>\u043d\u0435\u0433<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span> <\/strong><strong>\u044f <\/strong><strong>\u043d\u0435 <\/strong><strong>\u043f\u043e\u043b\u0443\u0447<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0443<\/span><\/strong> (I will not be getting an Emmy for it). But as simple as it is, it was quite a challenge <strong>\u0441\u043d\u0438\u043c\u0430\u0442\u044c<\/strong> (here: to shoot).<\/p>\n<p>First, it was hard <strong>\u043f\u0440\u0438\u0434<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0443<\/span>\u043c\u0430\u0442\u044c<\/strong> (to think of) something for a video. Thankfully, one of the blog readers, Rob, gave me an idea when he sent me <strong>\u0441\u0446\u0435\u043d<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span>\u0440\u0438\u0439<\/strong> (a script) for an origami how-to video (awesome script and I do hope Rob makes a video with it).<\/p>\n<p>Then I had to go through close to <strong>\u0434<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u044e<\/span>\u0436\u0438\u043d\u0430 <\/strong><strong>\u0434<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0443<\/span>\u0431\u043b\u0435\u0439<\/strong> (a dozen takes) before getting it almost right. On the first try, my<strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0432\u0438\u0434\u0435\u043e\u043a<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span>\u043c\u0435\u0440\u0430<\/strong> (video camera) fell down in the middle of all the folding and creasing action. In several takes I held the materials either <strong>\u0441\u043b<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0438<\/span>\u0448\u043a\u043e\u043c <\/strong><strong>\u0432\u044b\u0441\u043e\u043a<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span><\/strong> (too high) or not in the center of the screen. In one of the takes I started <strong>\u0437\u0430\u0438\u043a<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span>\u0442\u044c\u0441\u044f<\/strong> (to stutter). And in one otherwise perfect take I completely blanked out on how to say \u201cto eyeball it\u201d in Russian.<\/p>\n<p>Now, you notice that I said everything in the video is \u201calmost right\u201d. Yes, there\u2019s one little thing in it\u2026 Try to spot it (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">hint<\/span>: it has to do with how counting in Russian).<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and the ornament you will be making or at least watching me make is called<strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0444\u043e\u043d<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span>\u0440\u0438\u043a<\/strong> (a lantern) in Russian. So <strong>\u0441\u0434<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u043b\u0430\u0439\u0442\u0435 <\/strong><strong>\u043c\u043d\u0435 <\/strong><strong>\u043e\u0434\u043e\u043b\u0436<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u043d\u0438\u0435<\/strong> (do me a favor), watch this video and tell me what can I do better next time.
