Chips arrived late in Russia, but it didn’t take long for the Russian people to take them both to their hearts and to that mysterious soul of theirs. I was not a fan of chips before I came to Russia, mostly because they’re sold in too big bags in my home country and I mostly saw them as a product of \u00ab\u043a\u043e\u043b\u043b\u0435\u043a\u0442\u0438<\/span>\u0432\u043d\u043e\u0433\u043e \u043f\u043e\u0442\u0440\u0435\u0431\u043b\u0435<\/span>\u043d\u0438\u044f\u00bb <\/strong>[‘collective consumption’] to serve as snacks at parties or movie nights attended by large or not so large crowds. But in Russia – the best country in the world at making packages of the exact right size (\u00ab\u0438 \u044d<\/span>\u0442\u0438\u043c \u0436\u0435 \u0420\u043e\u0441\u0441\u0438<\/span>\u044f \u0434\u043e\u043b\u0436\u043d\u0430<\/span> \u0441\u043b\u0430<\/span>\u0432\u0438\u0442\u0441\u044f!\u00bb<\/strong>) – they’re sold in perfect packages of 30 gr., 85 gr. and 170 gr. (and no bigger, at least I haven’t seen those scary half kilo bags sold here in the Urals). The small pack fits one person just right as a snack, and the middle one is great for two people to share, whereas the big one is necessary when more people get together to drink vodka (as an example, just an example). The year 2009 has already seen the introduction of a new taste in Russia – \u00ab<\/strong>\u043a\u0440\u0430<\/span>\u0441\u043d\u0430\u044f<\/strong>\u0438\u043a\u0440\u0430<\/span>\u00bb<\/strong> [red caviar], but I’m still stuck on my old favorite \u00ab\u0431\u0435<\/span>\u043b\u044b\u0435 \u0433\u0440\u0438\u0431\u044b<\/span> \u0441\u043e \u0441\u043c\u0435\u0442\u0430<\/span>\u043d\u043e\u0439\u00bb<\/strong>. If you’re ever in the mood for chips in Russia, and who isn’t from time to time?, you should definitely give them a try!
