I want more &#8211; and I think we all need more. <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0411<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u043e<\/span>\u043b\u044c\u0448\u0435<\/strong><strong>\u043e<\/strong><strong>\u043f\u0430\u0434\u0435\u0436<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0430<\/span>\u0445<\/strong><strong>!\u00bb<\/strong> [More about cases!] We must dedicate ourselves to deeper study of the cases, we must go further than we have ever gone before in order to fully understand them, and finally learn how to use them correctly. But let&#8217;s not go all <em>\u2018case-crazy&#8217;<\/em> and throw ourselves straight away into difficult verbs like <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u043f\u0440\u0435\u043d\u0435\u0431\u0440\u0435\u0433<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0430<\/span>\u0442\u044c<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [to scorn; disdain; look down on; to disregard; ignore (<em>rules, advice, etc<\/em>); to neglect (<em>one&#8217;s duties, health, etc<\/em>)] that can only be followed by a word answering the question <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0447\u0435\u043c<\/strong><strong>? <\/strong><strong>\u043a\u0435\u043c<\/strong><strong>?\u00bb <\/strong>[<em>\u2018with what&#8217;? \u2018with whom?&#8217;<\/em>], thus by a noun of the <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0442\u0432\u043e\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0438<\/span>\u0442\u0435\u043b\u044c\u043d\u044b\u0439<\/strong><strong>\u043f\u0430\u0434<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0435<\/span>\u0436<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [instrumental case]. Let&#8217;s start out easy &#8211; by finding out where <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u043f\u0430\u0434<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0435<\/span>\u0436<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong>, the Russian word for \u2018case&#8217;, comes from. In the grammatical sense, just like the Latin word <em>casus<\/em> it is a loan translation (<em>calque<\/em>) from the Greek word that means \u2018I am falling&#8217;, and comes from a term used when playing dice.]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Now since that&#8217;s been settled, let&#8217;s start our journey through the six cases of Russian language with the first &#8211; and most simple &#8211; of them: <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0438\u043c\u0435\u043d<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0438<\/span>\u0442\u0435\u043b\u044c\u043d\u044b\u0439<\/strong><strong>\u043f\u0430\u0434<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0435<\/span>\u0436<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [nominative cases]. Like this one called <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><\/em><strong><em>\u0413\u0423\u041b<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0410<\/span>\u0413<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>. <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u0418\u0441\u0442<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u043e<\/span>\u0440\u0438\u044f<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>, <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u0442\u0440\u0443\u0434<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u0438<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u0431\u044b\u0442<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>.\u00bb<\/em><\/strong><em> [GULAG. History, work and life.].<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Now that we&#8217;ve cleared up the fact that the nominative case in Russian language is\u00a0used when you&#8217;re just stating what someone or something is called (or their names), it should be added that this case answers the questions <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0427\u0442\u043e<\/strong><strong>?\u00bb<\/strong> [what?] and <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u041a\u0442\u043e<\/strong><strong>?\u00bb <\/strong>[who?].
