You can learn so much vocabulary from it! Today I will discuss an article I found at one of my favorite news websites: <strong>\u041a\u043e\u043c\u043c\u0435\u0440\u0441<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0430<\/span>\u0442\u043d\u0442\u044a<\/strong> [Kommersant (it means businessman or merchant)]. Note that the paper spells its name with a <strong>\u0442\u0432\u0451\u0440\u0434\u044b\u0439 \u0437\u043d\u0430\u043a<\/strong> [hard sign]. I like this sentence because it demonstrates Russian punctuation (which I do not understand sometimes!). The aspect of Russian punctuation that is most different from English is how <strong>\u0437\u0430\u043f\u044f\u0442<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0430<\/span>\u044f<\/strong> [a comma] is required before <strong>\u0447\u0442\u043e<\/strong>. I believe this is the case all the time \u2013\u00a0though I am not certain, so any native speakers are welcome to weigh in about this matter!<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, moving on from punctuation, the article goes on to say that there is <strong>\u0441\u043d\u0438\u0436<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0435<\/span>\u043d\u0438\u044f \u0447\u0438\u0441\u043b<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0430<\/span> \u0441\u0442\u043e\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u043e<\/span>\u043d\u043d\u0438\u043a\u043e\u0432 \u043e\u043f\u043f\u043e\u0437<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u0438<\/span>\u0446\u0438\u0438<\/strong> [a decline in the number of supporters of the opposition] at these rallies.
