The good news: I have managed to get a lot of my work done. The bad news: there’s still so much more to do. The political party \u0413\u0440\u0443\u0437\u0438<\/span>\u043d\u0441\u043a\u0430\u044f \u043c\u0435\u0447\u0442\u0430<\/span><\/strong> [Georgian Dream] won in these elections. Many observers did not predict this. Since these were \u043f\u0430\u0440\u043b\u0430\u043c\u0435<\/span>\u043d\u0442\u0441\u043a\u0438\u0435 \u0432\u044b<\/span>\u0431\u043e\u0440\u044b<\/strong> [parliamentary elections], \u041c\u0438\u0445\u0430\u0438<\/span>\u043b \u0421\u0430\u0430\u043a\u0430\u0448\u0432\u0438<\/span>\u043b\u0438<\/strong> [Mikhail Saakashvili] will remain the president for the time being. But Georgia may very well have a new leader as soon as next year.<\/p>\n

This new leader would be \u0411\u0438\u0434\u0437\u0438<\/span>\u043d\u0430 \u0418\u0432\u0430\u043d\u0438\u0448\u0432\u0438<\/span>\u043b\u0438<\/strong> [Bidzina Ivanishvili]. From what I know of Georgian politics, \u0418\u0432\u0430\u043d\u0438\u0448\u0432\u0438<\/span>\u043b\u0438<\/strong> could become the next prime minister (and possibly president) of Georgia. He is certainly a figure to watch.<\/p>\n

Assignment: watch the video I linked to above (or click here<\/a>). If you’re just learning Russian, try to watch it without the subtitles (I don’t know if you can turn them off or not; if you can’t, try to ignore them) and see what you can understand.
