Yuri Gagarin and I are connected!<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">My <b>\u0441\u0432\u044f\u0437\u044c<\/b> (connection) to Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space, did not become apparent to me until I was 27 years old. Yuri Gagarin was the first Russian <b>\u043a\u043e\u0441\u043c\u043e\u043d\u0430\u0432\u0442<\/b> (cosmonaut). Gagarin received his training and met his future <b>\u0436\u0435\u043d\u0430<\/b> (wife) in the city of Orenburg. Coincidentally, that is where I was born.<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Gagarin&#8217;s time in space was well documented in the film &#8220;First Orbit.&#8221;\u00a0The film is available in Russian with English subtitles and is comprised of original footage from spaceship <b>\u0412\u043e\u0441\u0442\u043e\u043a<\/b> (Vostok). If you are not immersed in the language environment by being in the region where the language is spoken, <b>create that environment yourself <\/b>by simply listening to<b> <\/b>movies, shows or documentaries on subjects that interest you.<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">UPDATE! My <\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #00cc00\"><b>\u043c\u0435\u0441\u0442\u043e \u0440\u043e\u0436\u0434\u0435\u043d\u0438\u044f (<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #00cc00\"><b>birthplace<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #00cc00\"><b>)<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #00cc00\"><b>, Orenburg, is also known for its fine cashmere shawls.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Some of them are so thin that they easily fit through a ring. Nevertheless, even the thinnest shawls are pretty warm. Long goat hair that is used in the making of the shawls creates tiny air pockets. The two trends that stand out the most, at least in my opinion, are Russia&#8217;s transition from a mostly cash to an increasingly cashless <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><b>\u043e\u0431\u0449\u0435\u0441\u0442\u0432\u043e<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"> (<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">society<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">)<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"> and a significant increase of women drivers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #00cc00\"><b>4. Two things I can&#8217;t live without are <\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #00cc00\"><b>my <\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #00cc00\"><b>\u0444\u043e\u0442\u043e\u0430\u043f\u043f\u0430\u0440\u0430\u0442 (<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #00cc00\"><b>camera<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #00cc00\"><b>)<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #00cc00\"><b> and my <\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #00cc00\"><b>\u043d\u043e\u0443\u0442\u0431\u0443\u043a (<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #00cc00\"><b>laptop<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #00cc00\"><b>)<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #00cc00\"><b>.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">My <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><b>\u0438\u043d\u0442\u0435\u0440\u0435\u0441<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"> (<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">interest<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">)<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"> in communication began developing in fifth grade. After I started art school and was introduced to the great variety of art mediums and techniques, I realized that language was not the only way to express our <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><b>\u0438\u0434\u0435\u0438<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">(<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">ideas<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">)<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><b>\u043c\u044b\u0441\u043b\u0438<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"> (<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">thoughts<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">)<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"> or <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><b>\u0447\u0443\u0432\u0441\u0442\u0432\u0430<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"> (feelings).<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"> As I got older and developed an interest in the English language, which is my second language, my perception and understanding of thought processes and information exchange expanded further. My fascination with how we communicate with each other, inside and outside of our own <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><b>\u044f\u0437\u044b\u043a<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"> (<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">language<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">)<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"> and <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><b>\u043a\u0443\u043b\u044c\u0442\u0443\u0440\u0430<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"> (<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">culture<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">)<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">, helped solidify my choice of major, which was linguistics. Later in <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">life, my<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"> continuous desire for self-expression led me to mastering <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">digital photography. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00cc00\"><b>5. <\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #00cc00\"><b>My favorite <\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #00cc00\"><b>\u043c\u0443\u043b\u044c\u0442\u0438\u043a (<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #00cc00\"><b>cartoon<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #00cc00\"><b>)<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #00cc00\"><b> is a Russian cartoon about Winnie the Pooh.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">It has little to do with the original story. I wouldn&#8217;t even call it an adaptation. The only thing it has in common with the original source is the main characters. The cartoon, however, is among the most popular cartoons of the late Soviet era due to its lighthearted <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"><b>\u044e\u043c\u043e\u0440<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\"> (<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">humor<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">)<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">. Most Russian children of today still know and like it.
