You may sense a common thread in all these words \u2013 a common theme of birth, family, and blood relations.<\/p>\n<p>However, some of the uses of this word are unique to the Russian language. Basically, both your siblings and cousins may be referred to as <strong>\u0431\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span>\u0442\u044c\u044f<\/strong> or <strong>\u0441\u0451\u0441\u0442\u0440\u044b<\/strong>. So, using \u0440\u043e\u0434\u043d\u043e\u0439 in front of \u0431\u0440\u0430\u0442\/\u0441\u0435\u0441\u0442\u0440\u0430 can help the speaker establish that they are talking about a sibling as opposed to a cousin.<\/p>\n<p>\u0420\u043e\u0434\u043d\u0430\u044f can also be used as a <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/russian\/love-me-russian-or-a-little-something-about-the-diminutive-part-i-introduction\/\">term of endearment<\/a>. Some even get it tattooed as a sign of their allegiance to their jail mates.
