And in front of the university\u2019s main building we have a very young <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/ru.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/%D0%9B%D0%B5%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%BD,_%D0%92%D0%BB%D0%B0%D0%B4%D0%B8%D0%BC%D0%B8%D1%80_%D0%98%D0%BB%D1%8C%D0%B8%D1%87\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><em>\u0412\u043e\u043b<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span>\u0434\u044f<\/em><\/strong><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u0423\u043b\u044c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u044f<\/span>\u043d\u043e\u0432<\/em><\/strong><\/a><strong><em>\u00bb<\/em><\/strong><em> [<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vladimir_Lenin\" target=\"_blank\">Volodya Ul\u2019yanov<\/a>] \u2013 aged seventeen and not yet aware of his imminent expulsion from the university\u2026 <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">In August 1887 <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0412\u043e\u043b<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span>\u0434\u044f<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0423\u043b\u044c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u044f<\/span>\u043d\u043e\u0432<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [Volodya Ul&#8217;yanov], aged seventeen, began his studies <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u043d\u0430<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u044e\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0438<\/span>\u0434\u0438\u0447\u0435\u0441\u043a\u043e\u043c<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0444\u0430\u043a\u0443\u043b\u044c\u0442<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u0442\u0435<\/strong><strong>\u00bb <\/strong>[at the faculty of jurisprudence] of Kazan (then <em>Imperial<\/em>; soon to be renamed <em>Federal<\/em> \u2013 at the moment <em>State<\/em>) University. Little did he know at the time that he was not to study there for more than four months \u2013 following his involvement in a student uprising at the university in December 1887 he was soon expelled from this institution of higher education. The university is now named after him \u2013 the only case in the world where a university has been named in honor of an expelled student? Of course, <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0412\u043e\u043b<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span>\u0434\u044f<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0423\u043b\u044c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u044f<\/span>\u043d\u043e\u0432<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [Volodya Ul&#8217;yanov] was not expelled <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0438\u0437<\/strong><strong>&#8211;<\/strong><strong>\u0437<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span><\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u043d\u0435\u0443\u0441\u043f\u0435\u0432<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span>\u0435\u043c\u043e\u0441\u0442\u0438<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [because of poor grades <em>(student\u2019s failure; poor progress in studies)<\/em>] but <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u043f\u043e<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u043f\u043e\u043b\u0438\u0442<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0438<\/span>\u0447\u0435\u0441\u043a\u0438\u043c<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u043f\u0440\u0438\u0447<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0438<\/span>\u043d\u0430\u043c<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [for political reasons], so naming the university in honor of him isn\u2019t completely without ground. At Kazan\u2019 State University\u2019s museum they have preserved <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u043e\u0434\u043d<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span><\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0430\u0443\u0434\u0438\u0442<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span>\u0440\u0438\u044f<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u044e\u0440\u0438\u0434<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0438<\/span>\u0447\u0435\u0441\u043a\u043e\u0433\u043e<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0444\u0430\u043a\u0443\u043b\u044c\u0442<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u0442\u0430<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0442\u043e\u0433<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span><\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0432\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u043c\u0435\u043d\u0438<\/strong><strong>\u00bb <\/strong>[one auditorium of the faculty of jurisprudence from that time] and thus you can both feel what it might have been like to be a student<em> (and have a seat at one of the wooden desks and guess if this might have been the same place where Lenin once sat) <\/em>as well as from the teacher\u2019s point of view <em>(when sitting down behind the professor\u2019s chair)<\/em>. But <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u044d<\/span><\/strong><strong>\u0442\u043e<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u043d\u0435<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0432\u0441\u0451<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [this is not all]! Outside of the main hall of the university where the student uprising took place in December 1887 there are two plaques \u2013 one <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u043d\u0430<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0443<\/span>\u0441\u0441\u043a\u043e\u043c<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u044f\u0437\u044b\u043a<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span><\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [in Russian language] and one <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u043d\u0430<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0442\u0430\u0442<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span>\u0440\u0441\u043a\u043e\u043c<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u044f\u0437\u044b\u043a<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span><\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [in Tatar language] \u2013 saying that this was the place where Lenin was to be found on this fateful day. Our guide explained to us that Lenin\u2019s role in this had been greatly <em>\u2018overestimated\u2019 <\/em>as he was but a first year student and <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0443\u043d\u0438\u0432\u0435\u0440\u0441\u0438\u0442<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u0442\u0441\u043a\u0430\u044f<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0434\u0435\u0434\u043e\u0432\u0449<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0438<\/span>\u043d\u0430<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [university hazing] of those days were <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0441\u0442\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span>\u0448\u043d\u0430\u044f<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [terrible], so the future famous revolutionary had been most likely to be found in the very back of the hall. Note how the age of Lenin on this plaque corresponds to the actually age at which he lived in this particular building. Now that\u2019s what I call <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><\/em><strong><em>\u0431\u044b\u0442\u044c<\/em><\/strong><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u0430\u043a\u043a\u0443\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span>\u0442\u043d\u044b\u043c<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u00bb<\/em><\/strong><em> [to be accurate]!<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">There are plenty of different museums in Kazan\u2019; you name it, they have it! There are also many, many literary museums dedicated to great writers and poets, Russian as well as Tatar \u2013 which I should have gone to instead, but for some strange reason the only museum I decided to visit on my own while in town was <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0414\u043e\u043c<\/strong><strong>&#8211;<\/strong><strong>\u043c\u0443\u0437<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u0439<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0412<\/strong><strong>. <\/strong><strong>\u0418<\/strong><strong>. <\/strong><strong>\u041b<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u043d\u0438\u043d\u0430<\/strong><strong>\u00bb <\/strong>[The House-Museum of V. I. Lenin]. I don\u2019t even really know why I was so intent on visiting this particular museum \u2013 <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0443<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u043c\u0435\u043d<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u044f<\/span><\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0431<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u044b<\/span>\u043b\u043e<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0445\u043e\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span>\u0448\u0435\u0435<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u043f\u0440\u0435\u0434\u0447<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0443<\/span>\u0432\u0441\u0442\u0432\u0438\u0435<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0438<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0431\u043e\u043b\u044c\u0448<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span>\u0435<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u043b\u044e\u0431\u043e\u043f<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u044b<\/span>\u0442\u0441\u0442\u0432\u043e<\/strong><strong>\u00bb <\/strong>[I had a good premonition and a big curiosity]. I\u2019m not a huge fan of Lenin, but this has mainly to do with me being exceedingly ignorant of him \u2013 the real person, once known as <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0412\u043e\u043b<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span>\u0434\u044f<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0423\u043b\u044c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u044f<\/span>\u043d\u043e\u0432<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [Volodya Ul&#8217;yanov] that is \u2013 so visiting this museum was an important step toward enlightenment for me: both political and historical. The museum is located <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u043d\u0430<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0443<\/span><\/strong><strong>\u043b\u0438\u0446\u0435<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0423\u043b\u044c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u044f<\/span>\u043d\u043e\u0432\u0430<\/strong><strong>&#8211;<\/strong><strong>\u041b<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u043d\u0438\u043d\u0430<\/strong><strong>\u00bb <\/strong>[on the Ul\u2019yanov-Lenin Street] in Kazan <em>(number 58; it is open from 11.00 am to 18.00 all days except for Mondays)<\/em>. This tricky street name was meant for such a simple-minded tourist as myself to get it mixed up and thus end up asking people on the street: <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0413\u0434\u0435<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0443<\/span><\/strong><strong>\u043b\u0438\u0446\u0430<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u041b<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u043d\u0438\u043d\u0430<\/strong><strong>&#8211;<\/strong><strong>\u0423\u043b\u044c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u044f<\/span>\u043d\u043e\u0432\u0430<\/strong><strong>?\u00bb<\/strong> [Where is the Lenin-Ul\u2019yanov street?]. But the inhabitants of Kazan\u2019 are a kind people; one passersby corrected me with a subtle smile as he said: <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u041d\u0435\u0442<\/strong><strong>, <\/strong><strong>\u0434<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u0432\u0443\u0448\u043a\u0430<\/strong><strong>, <\/strong><strong>\u043d\u0430\u043e\u0431\u043e\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span>\u0442<\/strong><strong> \u2013 <\/strong><strong>\u0441\u043d\u0430\u0447<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span>\u043b\u0430<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u043e\u043d<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0431\u044b\u043b<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0423\u043b\u044c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u044f<\/span>\u043d\u043e\u0432\u043e\u043c<\/strong><strong>, <\/strong><strong>\u0442<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span>\u043b\u044c\u043a\u043e<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u043f\u043e\u0442<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span>\u043c<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0441\u0442\u0430\u043b<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u041b<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u043d\u0438\u043d\u043e\u043c<\/strong><strong>. <\/strong><strong>\u0412\u043e\u0442<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0438<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u043d\u0430\u0437\u0432<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span>\u043d\u0438\u0435<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0443<\/span><\/strong><strong>\u043b\u0438\u0446\u044b<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u044d<\/span><\/strong><strong>\u0442\u043e<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span><\/strong><strong>\u0447\u0435\u043d\u044c<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0442<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span>\u0447\u043d\u043e<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u043f\u0435\u0440\u0435\u0434\u0430<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0451<\/span>\u0442<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [No, girl <em>(the usual way in Russia of referring to a young woman who\u2019s name you don\u2019t know)<\/em>, it\u2019s the other way around \u2013 first he was Ul\u2019yanov, only later did he become Lenin. And the name of the street expresses this very exact]. Soon after this I found the museum and marveled at Russia\u2019s magnificent and available cultural institutions \u2013 a student\u2019s ticket to this museum costs only <strong>\u00ab15 (<\/strong><strong>\u043f\u044f\u0442\u043d<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span>\u0434\u0446\u0430\u0442\u044c<\/strong><strong>) <\/strong><strong>\u0440\u0443\u0431\u043b<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u0439<\/strong><strong>\u00bb <\/strong>[fifteen rubles] <em>(I think that&#8217;s only about 50 US cents?!)<\/em> \u2013 the same as a one-way ticket by bus in Kazan\u2019. He had a separate entrance and his own stove \u2013 did you know?!<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">I love visiting such <em>\u2018house-museums\u2019<\/em> in Russia \u2013 well, anywhere in the world actually \u2013 but most of all in Russia. The <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u044d\u043a\u0441\u043a\u0443\u0440\u0441\u043e\u0432<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span>\u0434\u044b<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [tour guides] are almost always older women who are very kind and talkative and if you seem especially interested in their topic and ask a couple of informed questions on the same topic, then sometimes you don\u2019t have to pay extra for the excursion. That\u2019s what happened to me at this museum; I told one of the women when I paid for my ticket that <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u044f<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0438\u0437<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0428\u0432<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u0446\u0438\u0438<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [I\u2019m from Sweden] at which she told me that <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u043a\u043e\u043c\u043c\u0443\u043d<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0438<\/span>\u0441\u0442\u044b<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0441\u043e<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0432\u0441\u0435\u0433<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span><\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u043c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0438<\/span>\u0440\u0430<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0441\u044e\u0434<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span><\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u043f\u0440\u0438\u0435\u0437\u0436<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span>\u044e\u0442<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [communists from all over the world come here] and that it would be a pleasure for her to show me around. She showed me everything and even invited me to take pictures everywhere <em>(this is very rare at Russian museums \u2013 either you have to pay extra to take pictures or the museum workers take a liking to you and allow you to do it for free, sometimes they might even let you go into the \u2018restricted\u2019 areas \u2013 but this also means that they\u2019ll invite you for tea and\/or vodka afterwards)<\/em>. I didn\u2019t tell the nice woman with <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0442\u0430\u0442<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span>\u0440\u0441\u043a\u0438\u0439<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0430\u043a\u0446<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u043d\u0442<\/strong><strong>\u00bb <\/strong>[Tatar accent] that I wasn\u2019t really a Swedish communist, for then she might not have given me such a thorough tour of the place. Interesting enough, all the workers at the museum spoke with each other <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u043f\u043e<\/strong><strong>&#8211;<\/strong><strong>\u0442\u0430\u0442<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span>\u0440\u0441\u043a\u0438<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [in Tatar] which made me feel as if I was truly in a foreign country\u2026 She even pointed out that one of Lenin\u2019s younger sisters spoke Swedish and that the Ul\u2019yanov family had some <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0448\u0432<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u0434\u0441\u043a\u0430\u044f<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u043a\u0440\u043e\u0432\u044c<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [Swedish blood] among their ancestors. Now this I did not know! <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0418\u043d\u0442\u0435\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u0441\u043d\u043e<\/strong><strong>!\u00bb<\/strong> [Interesting!]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/russian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2010\/05\/lenin_kazan6.jpg\" aria-label=\"Lenin Kazan6\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-832\" title=\"lenin_kazan6\"  alt=\"\" width=\"330\" height=\"300\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/russian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2010\/05\/lenin_kazan6.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>A couple of \u2013 to me at least \u2013 weird statues of Lenin in his childhood (to the right) and in his youth (to the left).<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">These statues can be found in a special room in the museum recording Lenin\u2019s time in Kazan\u2019 from day one. There\u2019s another room with a big sign on the door proudly proclaiming <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u041b<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u043d\u0438\u043d<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0432<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0438\u0441\u043a<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0443<\/span>\u0441\u0441\u0442\u0432\u0435<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [Lenin in art]. I was surprised to find a lot of poems among its items. All in all, this museum is very much worth a visit when in Kazan\u2019. Sadly, it does not have a gift shop so you can\u2019t buy neither a t-shirt nor a cup with young <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0412\u043e\u043b<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span>\u0434\u044f<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0423\u043b\u044c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u044f<\/span>\u043d\u043e\u0432<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [Volodya Ul\u2019yanov] on it. Not only does he stand on the main square of Kazan\u2019 \u2013 <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><\/em><strong><em>\u043f\u043b<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span>\u0449\u0430\u0434\u044c<\/em><\/strong><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u0441\u0432\u043e\u0431<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span>\u0434\u044b<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u00bb<\/em><\/strong><em> [Freedom Square] \u2013 but here he is inside Kazan State University. I have no idea what he\u2019s holding in his hand, but I don\u2019t seem to care. Thumbs up, <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><\/em><strong><em>\u0418\u043b\u044c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0438<\/span>\u0447<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u00bb<\/em><\/strong><em> [Il&#8217;ich (sometimes in Russian culture they call people simply by their patronymic)]!<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">I can\u2019t say that visiting the museum instantly turned me into a Lenin fanatic, but at least it got me interested in finding out more about the Russian history \u2013 and maybe even read some books on the Russian October Revolution\u2026 Back when I was younger I was interested in this, but at the time I didn\u2019t speak Russian so I could only read <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0437<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span>\u043f\u0430\u0434\u043d\u044b\u0435<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0438\u0441\u0442<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span>\u0447\u043d\u0438\u043a\u0438<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [western resources] which is, after all, only representative of some points of views. It is always good to know the OTHER side of the story, too. If I had a glass of vodka in my hand right now I would make a toast to <strong>\u00ab<\/strong><strong>\u0442\u043e\u043b\u0435\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span>\u043d\u0442\u043d\u043e\u0441\u0442\u044c<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0438<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u043f\u0440<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span>\u0432\u043e<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u043d\u0430<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u0441<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span>\u0431\u0441\u0442\u0432\u0435\u043d\u043d\u043e\u0435<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u043c\u043d<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u043d\u0438\u0435<\/strong><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> [tolerance and the right to have an opinion of one\u2019s own] \u2013 two of the most important things connected with Kazan\u2019 in my mind according to my personal impressions of this beautiful city.
