Last time, we looked at some top chemistry concepts<\/a> in Russian. We are continuing our science streak — this time, with physics. Just like in the case of chemistry, physics\u00a0vocabulary is vast and could not possibly fit into one blog post. Feel free to add other important concepts in the comments!<\/p>\n

To start, it’s worth mentioning that physics is \u0444\u0438\u0301\u0437\u0438\u043a\u0430, and a physicist is \u0444\u0438\u0301\u0437\u0438\u043a.<\/p>\n

\u0421\u0438\u0301\u043b\u0430 is, of course, the general vocabulary word for “strength,” as in the saying “\u0421\u0438\u0301\u043b\u0430 \u0435\u0441\u0442\u044c — \u0443\u043c\u0430\u0301 \u043d\u0435 \u043d\u0430\u0301\u0434\u043e” (said about a person who uses force imprudently). In physics, it refers to force, e.g. “\u0441\u0438\u0301\u043b\u0430 \u0442\u044f\u0433\u043e\u0442\u0435\u0301\u043d\u0438\u044f” (gravity force).<\/p>\n

The number you see on the scale is technically \u043c\u0430\u0301\u0441\u0441\u0430 (mass), as \u0432\u0435\u0441 (weight) is really a force. Colloquially, people say \u0432\u0435\u0441 to talk about how heavy people are.<\/p>\n

I will let you figure out what time is<\/a> on your own — it’s a fascinating subject.<\/p>\n

It’s worth mentioning that \u0432\u0440\u0435\u043c\u044f has a somewhat unusual declension<\/a>.<\/p>\n
