A person from Moscow <em>surely<\/em> speaks differently than someone from Novosibirsk. However, in the case of Russia we find that the variation is not nearly as drastic as one would expect.<\/p>\n<p>As explained in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/topic\/dialect\/Unifying-influences-on-dialects\"><em>Encyclopaedia Britannica<\/em><\/a>, &#8220;The degree of dialectal differentiation depends to a great extent on the length of time a certain population has remained in a certain place.&#8221; The article notes that there is much less accent variation in Russian as compared to Swiss German due to migrations of the Russian population and an unobstructed geography.<\/p>\n<p>I would like to share some examples of how people from different parts of Russia talk. You can also hear him &#8220;double&#8221; the subject in the sentence &#8220;\u0438\u0434<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0435<\/span>\u044f&#8230; \u043e\u043d<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u043e<\/span>\u0447\u0435\u043d\u044c \u0445\u043e\u0440\u043e\u0448<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u0430<\/span>&#8221; (&#8220;this idea&#8230; it&#8217;s very good&#8221;). However, there is nothing in their answers that would unambiguously point to a specific regional variety of Russian.
