In this Spanish lesson we are going to learn about the different ways to say I love you in Spanish. First we will learn some relevant grammar and vocabulary and then see if you can follow a short audio conversation in Spanish. The transcript to the audio will be given at the end of the post but please try not to look at it until you have tried playing and understanding the audio a few times.

Different ways to say I love you in Spanish:

Querer: To love
Amar: To love

Te quiero: I love you
Os quiero: I love you (to more than one person)
Te queremos: We love you
Os queremos: We love you (to more than one person)

Te amo: I love you
Os amo: I love you (to more than one person)
Te amamos: We love you
Os amamos: We love you (to more than one person)

Te quiero/amo tanto: I love you so much
Estoy loco/a por ti: I’m crazy about you
Te quiero con locura: I love you madly
Estoy completamente enamorado/a de ti: I am totally in love with you
Te quiero/amo con todo mi corazón: I love you with all my heart
Te quiero/amo más que mi propia vida: I love you more than my own life
Eres el amor de mi vida: You are the love of my life
Te querré/amaré siempre: I will love you forever
Nunca voy a parar de querer/amar te: I will never stop loving you
Quiero estar contigo para siempre: I want to be with you forever
Te quiero/amo cada día más: I love you more and more every day
No puedo expresar con palabras cuánto te quiero/amo: Words cannot describe how much I love you
Siempre pienso en ti: I am always thinking of you

Adorar: To adore
Te adoro: I adore you

Te echo de menos: I miss you
Tengo el corazón roto: I have a broken heart
Me has roto el corazón: You have broken my heart
Sin ti no soy nada: Without you I am nothing

Now play the audio to listen a conversation. Can you understand what is being said? Play the audio a few times before you look at the transcript. Don’t worry if you don’t understand every single thing the two people are saying. Try to catch whichever words you can and then try to piece things together to work out what is being said.

Rosa: ¿James? ¿Estás ahí?
James: Sí, ¿qué pasa ahora Rosa? ¿Por qué me llamas?
Rosa: Te echo de menos.
James: Rosa, otra vez lo mismo.
Rosa: ¿Por qué ya no me quieres? Eres el amor de mi vida James. Tengo el corazón roto.
James: Mira Rosa. Tienes que intentar olvidarme y pasar página. Lo nuestro no tenía futuro.
Rosa: No puedo. ¡Te quiero tanto! Nunca voy a parar de quererte.
James: Tienes que hacerlo Rosa. Yo ya no quiero estar contigo. No te quiero. Tienes que aceptarlo.
Rosa: No puedo. Te quiero con locura. ¿Cómo pudiste dejar de quererme?
James: No puedo darte explicaciones Rosa. He cambiado. Tengo otros planes para mi vida.
Rosa: Pero yo sin ti no soy nada. ¿Qué voy a hacer sin ti?
