In this Spanish lesson we will practice practice how to ask and tell the time and how to state at what time we do things in Spanish. As usual, first we will review some relevant grammar and vocabulary and then see if you can follow a short listening. This lesson continues on from Lesson 25<\/a> in this course which also looked at telling the time in Spanish.<\/p>\n

This lesson is part of a Spanish course that practices the grammar and vocabulary first introduced in my beginner Spanish course posted here on the Transparent Language blog. Let’s test your listening comprehension and see if you can understand a short audio in Spanish. The transcript to the audio will be given at the end of the post but please try not to look at it until you have tried playing and understanding the audio a few times. <\/p>\n

Beginner Spanish Lesson 15 The Time<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Please familiarise yourself with the following words and phrases before listening to the audio below:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Normalmente: Usually
\nA veces: Sometimes
\nLos fines de semana: At the weekends
\nM\u00e1s tarde: later
\nAs\u00ed que: So
\nO: or
\nAntes: Before
\nDespu\u00e9s: After
\nDormir: To sleep
\nCenar: To have dinner<\/p>\n

Now, play the audio to listen to a conversation with one person asking another when she does different things. Can you understand what they are saying? Play the audio a few times before you look at the transcript. Don’t worry if you don’t understand every single thing the two people are saying. Try to catch whichever words you can and then try to piece things together to work out what is being said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nPeter: \u00bfCu\u00e1ndo escuchas m\u00fasica?
\nSonia: Escucho m\u00fasica cuando llego a casa del trabajo.
\nPeter: \u00bfA qu\u00e9 hora llegas a casa?
\nSonia: Termino el trabajo a las seis, as\u00ed que llego a casa a las seis y media o siete menos cuarto.
\nPeter: \u00bfA qu\u00e9 hora estudias ingl\u00e9s?
