Welcome to Valpo.<\/p><\/div>\n

Valpara\u00edso est\u00e1 ubicado en la costa pac\u00edfica en la zona central de Chile.\u00a0 Est\u00e1 a s\u00f3lo 120 kil\u00f3metros al noroeste de Santiago. Valpara\u00edso es la segunda ciudad m\u00e1s importante de Chile. M\u00e1s de 900.000 personas viven en la regi\u00f3n.\u00a0 Es una ciudad bohemia y un centro cultural muy destacado. Tambi\u00e9n es un centro educacional ya que muchas universidades est\u00e1n ubicadas en la zona. Se le ha llamado \u201cla joya del Pac\u00edfico\u201d pero estos d\u00edas mucha gente la llama \u201cValpo.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Valparaiso is located on the Pacific coast in central Chile. It\u2019s only 120 kilometers northwest of Santiago. Valparaiso is the 2nd most important city in Chile. More than 900,000 people live in the region. It\u2019s a very bohemian city and is a major cultural hub. It\u2019s also an educational center, as many universities are located here. It has been called \u201cThe Jewel of the Pacific,\u201d but these days many people simply call it “Valpo.”<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Riding a funicular.<\/p><\/div>\n

Como tiene muchas colinas, Valpara\u00edso instal\u00f3 un sistema de funiculares como ascensores. Te detienes en un cafecito y luego tomas uno para subir. Muchos artistas viven en Valpara\u00edso, y vas a ver las asombrosas muestras de arte callejero repartidas por toda la ciudad. Es divertido para dar vueltas por sus callecitas curvil\u00edneas en b\u00fasqueda de arte. Tambi\u00e9n puedes disfrutar los coloridos edificios y las vistas de la ciudad.<\/span><\/p>\n

Street art is everywhere!<\/p><\/div>\n

As it is a very hilly city, Valparaiso installed a system of funicular lifts. Stop in a local cafe and then take the short ride up the hill. Many artists live in Valparaiso, and you\u2019ll see amazing street art all over the city. It\u2019s fun to just wander around the city\u2019s winding streets in search of art. You can also enjoy the colorful buildings and great views of the city.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a1Feliz a\u00f1o nuevo!<\/p><\/div>\n

Valpara\u00edso es un lugar muy popular para festejar el a\u00f1o nuevo. Millones de personas vienen exclusivamente a eso. A medianoche, hay una muestra gigantesca de fuegos artificiales que recorren la bah\u00eda. La fiesta sigue toda la noche, mientras la gente bebe, canta y baila hasta que el sol sale.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Valparaiso is a very popular spot to go on New Year\u2019s Eve. Millions of people come out to celebrate. At midnight, there is a giant fireworks display all along the bay line. The party goes all night here, as people drink, sing, and dance until the sun comes up.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Talk about a hangover cure…<\/p><\/div>\n

Cuando despiertes, necesitas probar la especialidad \u2013 chorrillana \u2013 que consiste en una base de papas fritas y cubierta en carne salteada, huevos revueltos, cebolla frita y aveces queso o crema \u00e1cida. Te recomendamos acompa\u00f1arlo con un \u201cterremoto\u201d, que debe su nombre a la mezcla que contiene pipe\u00f1o (vino fresco), fernet y helado de pi\u00f1a. \u00a1Atr\u00e9vete! es una gran cura para la resaca (cruda, ca\u00f1a, como quieras llamarla).<\/span><\/p>\n

Would you drink an “Earthquake”?<\/p><\/div>\n

After all that partying, you need to try a local specialty – chorilllana – French fries topped with beef, scrambled eggs, and fried onions. You can also drink a terremotto (earthquake), which owes its name to the devastating mix of drinks like pipe\u00f1o, fernet and pineapple ice cream. It\u2019s a great hangover (cruda, ca\u00f1a, or whatever you call it) cure!\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Vi\u00f1a del Mar<\/p><\/div>\n

Puedes tomar un bus a Vi\u00f1a del Mar en la tarde. Es llamada la ciudad jard\u00edn ya que es un destino tur\u00edstico muy popular y reconocido por su belleza. Hay muchas playas donde puedes relajarte.<\/span><\/p>\n

You can take a bus to Vi\u00f1a del Mar for the afternoon. It\u2019s called the Garden City and is a popular tourist destination. There are many beaches here where you can relax.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Nighttime is the right time in Valpo.<\/p><\/div>\n

Valpara\u00edso tambi\u00e9n ofrece una vida nocturna genial. Hay cervecer\u00edas artesanales donde puedes probar las especialidades mientras escuchas jazz en vivo. Tambi\u00e9n hay bares donde puedes ir a tomar por poco dinero con amigos. Muchos m\u00fasicos y artistas presentan en las calles. Siempre hay una atm\u00f3sfera muy movida por las noches.<\/span><\/p>\n

Valparaiso also has great nightlife. There\u2019s a brewery here where you can try craft beers and listen to live jazz. There are also plenty of dive bars where you can get a cheap drink with friends. Many musicians and dancers perform in the streets. It\u2019s always a lively atmosphere here at night.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
