In this Spanish lesson we will practice more with some Spanish verbs of obligation. As usual, first we will review some relevant grammar and vocabulary and then see if you can follow a short listening. This lesson continues on from the previous lesson<\/a> in this course which also looked at Spanish verbs of obligation.<\/p>\n

This lesson is part of a Spanish course that practices the grammar and vocabulary first introduced in my beginner Spanish course posted here on the Transparent Language blog. Let’s test your listening comprehension and see if you can understand a short audio in Spanish. The transcript to the audio will be given at the end of the post but please try not to look at it until you have tried playing and understanding the audio a few times. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Please familiarise yourself with the following words and phrases before listening to the audio below:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Now play the audio to listen a conversation between between a doctor and a patient. Can you understand what they are saying? Play the audio a few times before you look at the transcript. Don’t worry if you don’t understand every single thing the two people are saying. Try to catch whichever words you can and then try to piece things together to work out what is being said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Doctor: \u00a1Hola buenas!
\nPatient: Hola doctor. Mire, me duele mucho la cabeza todos los d\u00edas y tomo paracetamol. Prefiero no tomar paracetamol, pero no s\u00e9 qu\u00e9 hacer.
\nDoctor: \u00bfToma paracetamol todos los d\u00edas?
\nPatient: S\u00ed, dos veces o tres veces al d\u00eda. \u00bfQu\u00e9 debo hacer?
\nDoctor: Tiene que encontrar la raz\u00f3n del dolor de cabeza. No es normal tener dolor de cabeza todos los d\u00edas. \u00bfQu\u00e9 bebe durante el d\u00eda?
\nPatient: Mmmm Por la ma\u00f1ana bebo un caf\u00e9. Luego, a las once, bebo otro caf\u00e9. Con la comida bebo coca cola y tomo otro caf\u00e9 despu\u00e9s de comer. Y por la noche bebo t\u00e9 con leche.
\nDoctor:Mmmm Creo que este es el problema. Usted bebe muchas bebidas con cafe\u00edna y no bebe agua. Debe beber agua.
