In this Spanish lesson we will practice using El Pret\u00e9rito Pluscuamperfecto, which is the Past Perfect in English. As usual, first we will review some relevant grammar and vocabulary and then see if you can follow a short listening. <\/p>\n

Let’s test your listening comprehension and see if you can understand a short audio in Spanish. Now play the audio to listen a conversation between two friends. Can you understand what they are saying? Play the audio a few times before you look at the transcript. Don’t worry if you don’t understand every single thing the two people are saying. Try to catch whichever words you can and then try to piece things together to work out what is being said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Joe: Hola Paula \u00bfhas visto a Pablo?
\nPaula: S\u00ed, el otro d\u00eda le vi en la biblioteca. Estaba estudiando. La verdad es que no le hab\u00eda visto en varios meses.
\nJoe: Yo no le he visto en mucho tiempo. \u00bfSabes qu\u00e9 ha estado haciendo?
\nPaula: Pues cuando le vi me dijo que hab\u00eda estado muy ocupado estudiando y que no hab\u00eda salido de su casa en meses.
\nJoe: \u00bfEn serio? Pero eso no puede ser bueno.
\nPaula: S\u00ed, tienes raz\u00f3n. Me dijo que no hab\u00eda aprobado su examen de ingl\u00e9s y que su profesor le hab\u00eda dicho que ten\u00eda que estudiar todos los d\u00edas cuatro horas.
\nJoe: Pero eso es una locura. Yo le puedo ayudar a aprobar su examen de ingl\u00e9s. Puede practicar conmigo. \u00bfNo te lo dije hace tiempo?
\nPaula: S\u00ed, ya me acuerdo. Yo le dije que te hab\u00eda visto y que me hab\u00edas dicho que le pod\u00edas ayudar. Pero \u00e9l me dijo que su problema no es hablar, es la gram\u00e1tica y que el profesor le hab\u00eda dicho que tiene que estudiar.
\nJoe: Pues yo creo que eso es una tonter\u00eda. Voy a llamarle para ofrecerle mi ayuda.
