I know it’s not always easy to keep up with the textbook and classes and everything. However, if we do have a study routine it becomes a lot easier.

Here are some tips:

– First, remind yourself that you’re capable. If someone has already learned it, you can learn it too.

– Don’t sit down to study or review for more than one hour. It’s counterproductive. If possible, divide this hour into three 20-minute periods.

– If you’re using a textbook, review, review, and review some more. Aim at excellency, don’t settle for anything less. We usually fool ourselves into thinking that we already “know” such-and-such conjugation when in fact it still needs to be drilled into our brain.

– If you have access to the audio of your course, listen to it again, and again, and again. Listening is a very powerful tool for learning languages and why waste your time with audio that is out of your learning level?

– Read out loud. Know those notes you make when your teacher says something you think it’s important or you see it online? Read them out loud. The best way of learning is teaching so make believe you are going to teach someone those tips. Find a good way to explain that and you’ll see how much of it will be taken in.

– If you’re taking a Spanish course at an institute, make an effort to speak as little English as you can. You’ll notice how your speaking abilities will improve drastically over time.

– Use what you’ve learned! Make up new sentences with the vocabulary you’ve just learned, even if they’re stupid or crazy sentences. Your focus here is to remember how words work together.

Well, these are some tips I’ve used and if you have “little secrets” to learn Spanish, share them with us, will you?

Take care and see you next time!

Hey, how are you all doing?
