It&#8217;s a very festive time with lots going on. <strong>Hay desfiles, conciertos, fiestas y m\u00e1s<\/strong> (There are parades, concerts, parties, and more). A <em>charro<\/em> is a traditional Mexican horseman (or horsewoman these days). They take part in <em><span class=\"s1\">la <\/span><\/em><span class=\"s2\"><em>charrer\u00eda<\/em>, which is actually the national sport of Mexico.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_12861\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter post-item__attachment\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/spanish\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/09\/2-DSC01711.jpg\" aria-label=\"2 DSC01711\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12861\" class=\"wp-image-12861 size-full\"  alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/spanish\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/09\/2-DSC01711.jpg\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/spanish\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/09\/2-DSC01711.jpg 700w, https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/spanish\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/09\/2-DSC01711-350x234.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-12861\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Los charros<\/p><\/div>\n<p>An accurate way to describe <em><span class=\"s1\">la <\/span><\/em><span class=\"s2\"><em>charrer\u00eda<\/em> is a more stylized and artistic form of the American rodeo. A big part of the sport is the clothing, as participants wear traditional suits and dresses. Perhaps the most emblematic dish for Independence Day is <em>chiles en nogada<\/em>. It&#8217;s a stuffed poblano chili topped with a walnut-cream sauce and pomegranate seeds, thus giving it the colors of the Mexican flag! In Puerto Vallarta, <strong>el alcalde<\/strong> (the mayor) reads &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/spanish\/mexicos-call-for-independence-209-years-ago\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>El Grito de Dolores<\/strong><\/a>&#8221; (The Cry of Dolores &#8211; the famous call for independence given by Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla in 1810. The party goes late into the night with lots of singing and dancing. Of course, there are plenty of tacos and quite a bit of tequila as well.
