In this Spanish lesson we are going to compare the different Spanish past tenses. As usual, first we will review some relevant grammar and vocabulary and then see if you can follow a short listening. <\/p>\n

This lesson is part of a Spanish course that practices the grammar and vocabulary first introduced in my Advanced Spanish course posted here on the Transparent Language blog. Let’s test your listening comprehension and see if you can understand a short audio in Spanish. The transcript to the audio will be given at the end of the post but please try not to look at it until you have tried playing and understanding the audio a few times. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Don’t worry if you don’t understand every single thing the two people are saying. Try to catch whichever words you can and then try to piece things together to work out what is being said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dave: Cristina, \u00bfhas estado alguna vez en Holanda?
\nCristina: S\u00ed, fui a Amsterdam hace dos a\u00f1os, cuando mi hermano estaba trabajando all\u00ed.
\nDave: \u00bfYa no est\u00e1 en Amsterdam?
\nCristina: No. Decidi\u00f3 volverse a Madrid. Hab\u00eda vivido fuera muchos a\u00f1os y ya estaba harto. Echaba mucho de menos a la familia.
\nDave: Ya claro. \u00bfY qu\u00e9 te pareci\u00f3 Amsterdam?
\nCristina: Me gust\u00f3. Estuve all\u00ed bastante tiempo. Tres semanas creo. Hab\u00eda estado en Alemania antes y pensaba que iba a ser parecido, pero los holandeses y los alemanes son muy diferentes.
\nDave:\u00bfT\u00fa crees?
\nCristina: S\u00ed, s\u00ed. Oye, \u00bfy por qu\u00e9 me preguntas tanto sobre Holanda? \u00bfVas a ir all\u00ed de vacaciones?
\nDave: No, de vacaciones no. Me han ofrecido un trabajo en Rotterdam y estoy pensando en mudarme all\u00ed. Nunca he estado en Holanda y quer\u00eda saber tu opini\u00f3n.
\nCristina: Ser\u00eda un cambio de vida importante. Llevas muchos a\u00f1os viviendo en Madrid.
\nDave: S\u00ed, aunque soy ingl\u00e9s me gusta la vida en Madrid. No s\u00e9 si me acostumbrar\u00e9 a otra cultura.
