In this Spanish lesson we are going to practice using Spanish prefixes and suffixes of Latin and Greek origin. As usual, first we will review some relevant grammar and vocabulary and then see if you can follow a short listening. <\/p>\n

This lesson is part of a Spanish course that practices the grammar and vocabulary first introduced in my Advanced Spanish course posted here on the Transparent Language blog. Let’s test your listening comprehension and see if you can understand a short audio in Spanish. The transcript to the audio will be given at the end of the post but please try not to look at it until you have tried playing and understanding the audio a few times. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Mar\u00eda: Hola Tom \u00bfQu\u00e9 tal? \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 te arrascas tanto el brazo?<\/p>\n

Tom: Es que tengo dermatitis y el brazo me pica much\u00edsimo.<\/p>\n

Mar\u00eda: \u00bfHas estado en el m\u00e9dico?<\/p>\n

Tom: S\u00ed, me han dado una crema. Pero no funciona. El brazo me sigue picando. \u00bfT\u00fa c\u00f3mo est\u00e1s? <\/p>\n

Mar\u00eda: Regular. Anteayer tuve una revisi\u00f3n m\u00e9dica que nos hacen todos los a\u00f1os en el trabajo. Me dijeron que tengo hipotensi\u00f3n. <\/p>\n

Tom: \u00bfHipotensi\u00f3n? \u00bfQu\u00e9 es eso?<\/p>\n

Mar\u00eda: Tengo la tensi\u00f3n muy baja y a veces me dan mareos. <\/p>\n

Tom: Aaahh vale. <\/p>\n

Mar\u00eda: S\u00ed, se me pone la cara de un color gris\u00e1ceo y se me pone la vista nublada. Es horrible. Tambi\u00e9n me dijeron que tengo otitis. Por eso me duelen tanto los o\u00eddos \u00faltimamente.<\/p>\n

Tom: Oh pobre. \u00bfTe han dado alguna medicina?<\/p>\n

Mar\u00eda: S\u00ed, para la otitis un antibi\u00f3tico. Para la hipotensi\u00f3n me han dicho que coma m\u00e1s frutas y verduras y me han dado tambi\u00e9n unas vitaminas. Tengo una cita con el endocrin\u00f3logo en un mes para ver si tengo un problema de tiroides.<\/p>\n

Tom: Bueno, espero que no sea nada.<\/p>\n

Mar\u00eda: S\u00ed, eso espero. Ya te contar\u00e9.<\/p>\n
